I think Zelda II uses MMC1

Been playing through the official release and I'm having a pretty great time with it. One minor complaint I have, and this may just be me, but I've found myself accidentally activating the manual save from the pause screen frequently. Might I suggest having it be something a little harder to accidentally activate? Like 'select' + up instead of 'a' or something? Again, may just be me but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

Definitely do not use Select + Up/Down, as it is the most common hotkey used for save states on EverDrives, as well as a regular menu shortcut on the Nt Mini.

Last thing I heard, DarkSamus hasn't been active for a long while.

No idea how to post pictures, but see the island with the first dungeon? Check the corners.

Thanks! Now I've seen the light  8)

This seems great, but I honestly don't know what to look for with regards to "columns". The map you posted just looks like the normal map to me, even though you've told us it's not.

If you could post a comparison screenshot that shows the difference before and after your improvement, that would be very helpful. Doesn't have to be the entire map.

Me too. What romsets the disk images came from would help as well, as it's apparent a lot of people are having trouble tracking down the right disk images.

This. A thousand times, this!

I just wanted to reiterate that I enjoy your sense of humor

That is a policy? Trump isn't featured in the game. The word "Trump" is. The hack isn't even about politics either. But if I have to change it, oops :o! Looks like I need to update. I assumed because in Shin Zelda Densetsu, an old man says "Vote against Bush 2004." That Trump text was a funny reference to Shin Zelda. :o

It is 1 specific (hidden) in game line, but I guess I'll have to update it? Right??? :-\.

EDIT: Since the hint cost 50 rupees, it was meant to be a multi-reaction text. If you were for Trump you'd laugh your butt off. And If you didn't like Trump you'd be annoyed that you spent 50 rupees on it . Either way, It wasn't meant to target any party. It is a multi-reaction text, to either annoy or make laugh depending on the person.

Please let me know if it is required to update it, Lex. There are no current bugs I have found as of yet. And just updating that would be a small update. Not worthy of having a new version name 1.5.  :-[

While I find this quite funny, it's best removed. If you don't remove it, the groundwork is laid for others to include political references in their hacks, and before you know it, there will be political hacks galore. It's just a can of worms best unopened. Not to mention, it severely clashes with the tone and magic of the Zelda universe.

Will this include or be compatible with:
Button Fix + Improvement hack ?
Music Replacement hack ?

If so, awesome. If not, that's kind of a bummer as it doesn't seek to replace the already fantastic Deluxe hack available.
Best of luck!

Are the two GFX patches compatible with each other? I'm a bit unclear as to what the real differences between them are.
Would it be possible to upload some comparison screenshots between the various GFX options?

And as a side note, what does the mystery patch really do? I have to be honest, I won't use it until I know what it actually does, and I suspect the same goes for most people patching. It's a novel idea, but it doesn't really work when people end up avoiding it.

As always, keep up the truly amazing work.

This needs comparison screenshots between red and black outlines.

This Alundra patch hasn't been uploaded to RHDN's hacks section. I also found a Landstalker controls patch by MIJET (was hard to find). MagicianLord's edited version of said patch is broken. Can I get permission to upload Supper's and MIJET's work to the hack database? It makes these things so much easier to find, and I'd say they're well worth making use of.

Thanks for notifying me of this, I had no idea a control patch for Landstalker was available. I would love to get it if possible.

There's one hack that I am used since the start of the year which pretty much has everything I would consider QoL for SM64.
the hack is called Super Mario 64: Arguably Better Edition:

The features are quite outstanding, and I like them all.
The only thing that bothers me about that hack is that the title screen has intrusive text, and the credits do as well.

If those changes to title screen and credits could be un-done, then that'd be the perfect version of SM64 for me.

Thanks for sharing this, or I would have never come across it.

It's a shame they don't post it on here, so it gets more widespread recognition.

No need to restrain yourself. Contact me here or here, we'll discuss how make more than 256 columns.

As a big Zelda fan, I'm grateful you've been participating in the Zelda threads lately. The more skillful people working on these projects, the better.

Seconding this,N64 emulation is still so imperfect so I've just stuck with an everdrive. It's frustrating that so few hacks are supported, and some that appear to be supported at first will suddenly become unplayable half way through.  Mario 64 seems tricky in particular since even the ones that do work on real hardware are extremely prone to slowdown.

As for changes I might suggest, the modern version of wall jump where you slide down a wall until you press B. I think that may have been done for a hack already. And maybe fixing the smoke graphic. Other than that, I wouldn't change too much, I think redux hacks should just add very sensible quality of life improvements and small fixes and not much else or it ends up being more than just an improvement of the original game.

I agree 100 % with everything you just said.

If all this could be made compatible with real hardware via an EverDrive, it would be spectacular.

A lot of Mario 64 hacks are only compatible with emulators, which is cool, but limits the user base.
A lot of people prefer playing on real hardware, so compatibility with real hardware would be prime.

Wasn't using PRG1. As it turns out, Shadow and I are using the same rom. The difference in CRC numbers was ROM hash VS file hash.

What does this mean, and how did you fix it?

I reckon several people will have the exact same issue as you had, so it would be nice to actually leave them with the solution as well. :)

Just downloaded the new Links Awakening GFX patch and the new burnable bush and in-dungeon top & bottom bombable walls appear corrupted. Bombable walls in the overworld and the left & right dungeon bombable walls look fine. Wallmasters appear upside-down when they come out of the wall from the left heading down. Will continue playing and let you know if I find anything else.

I just wanted to thank you for being so meticulous in your testing, as it benefits us all looking forward to enjoying the finished game.
