Right that's what i meant, the actual file size of the resulting nes-file is 728kB.
Ah, I see. That's leaving you just 40K left to work with. However, if you think about it, the whole of SMB1 fit into 40k, so relatively speaking that is still a solid amount of space left.

Question for ShadowOne333;
Would there be room for a new version of an existing item? The "Magic"(infinite) Bombs would be a very interesting addition! The mechanics are present(Magic key), perhaps a substitution? I would happily give up the magic key for magic bombs.

That aside, I've run through both quests and found no further glitches or problems. This mod is ready for prime-time and it's own official RHDN project page!

If you ask me now, the answer is i am working on the MMC3 Mapper resulting in a 728kB ROM. Upgrade to MMC5 is not planned, cause Editroid doesn't support it.
So yes, space can be a problem.
With everything you've been doing I figured it was getting to the upper limits like 512Kish, but 729K? WOW! Isn't the MMC3 limit 768K?

In case you're still considering names.

Shadowland

Nightscape

Dark Dream

The Gloaming

Curse of the Sun

Dark Star
I think he's settled on the name.

Hello metalwario, the desert is going to have animated background tiles AND a parallax scrolling layer.
I worked it out meticulously and actually right now i am implementing it, as we write.
greets.
I'm curious, with everything you're changing and adding in, how big is the final rom going to be? Are you using the same mapper or changing to something like MMC5?

Personal Projects / Re: Secret of Mana, Turbo - Beta 200709
« on: August 07, 2020, 09:24:40 am »
The current status is it's perpetual beta: you could grab a version at any point and enjoy it, but if you came back in 3 months, there'd be a few more features. This doesn't mean it has bugs (it does occasionally, but they get discovered and fixed): I don't subscribe to that definition of beta, it simply means not final.
IMHO, This project is of solid, stable quality that it can be considered a "final" releasable project that has rolling updates for feature improvements and additions. It just seems like it has earned an official project page. Nothing wrong with continuing developments in this thread and updating the project page every 6 months. Just throwing the thought out there.

So much for version 7 being final!

Currently playing through the latest version and the changes are interesting. I'm liking it.

This looks like a promising project!

That's actually a really interesting idea.
You could even repurpose / add some snow and ice themed items.
Food for thought.
Agreed. It would be a plausible story line too. Link wakes up, yet the island remains but without the warmth of Link's mind, the island grows cold. So Marin goes looking for a way to reach out to Link, knowing that his departure has something to do with the cold, but not knowing why or realizing she and the whole of the island is a magical dream world...

Hello!

And this hot area is meant to be accompanied by this track i composed late summer.

I did break the long time hacking hiatus. Trying to organize my works more to make more progress. This actual quarantine situation is quite well suited for hacking, so i took the opportunity. Hope you're all doing great and stay healthy! Cheers
That looks very cool! Just excellent!

The redesigned sprites look good! I like the Wizzrobe sprites the most IMO.
I have to agree, they look good!

Out of that...
Thanks to a lot of back-and-forth discussion with user @bogaabogaa, there's some neat stuff in the future for Zelda Redux :)

Take a peek!

This is right now WIP, and the arrows code is not finished (we still have to hijack the code that subtracts rupees and move it to the arrow counter, same for adding arrow numbers to the counter when purchasing the item, and also adding the enemy drop for Arrows and make that drop increase the arrow counter too), but it is coming along nicely!
I think it all looks good!

@llakssz

I've made a small hack to display the currently selected spirit on the battle hud. can share if youre interested

I think it's very cool! You should post it as a download here on RHDN. It qualifies as an "Addendum".

Thank you for the hotfix, lex! :D
I just went ahead and added the fixed IPS to the GitHub page, and also updated the source code of the patch with the new changes.

Check them out and let me know if everything works properly :)
Sorry I didn't get right back. Life has been bizarre lately...

You're very welcome, glad to help!

I did find that the Links Awakening IPS has a few GFX glitches when applied to the newer IPS. I'll get some screenshot posted soon. Otherwise everything looks good!

Actually fan input is what keeps me going, though I did get a little burnt out trying to keep up with the Vinesauce stream.
I've gotta chime in and say you've done some seriously cool and fun stuff! Very well done indeed! I think I can speak for most of us when I say Thank You!

Sorry to be a noob but that IPS patches don't work for me.  I downloaded them from the OP but when I try to use them through Lunar the program says they're not valid IPS files.  I tried FLIPS too just for the sake of it and the IPS files aren't recognised there either.
I just downloaded fresh copies of the IPS files to make the fixed shown in the post above. Are you sure you grabbed the right files?
