ROM Hacking Discussion / XSE, Advance map and free space finder issue

Hello all.
I'm having an issue with XSE, Advance map and free space finder. I've put them all in the same folder, but when I try to access free space finder in XSE, it is grayed out and I can't access it.
I've found multiple tutorials online, but no luck so far. I'm currently trying to script a few legendaries into my hack. That's all that I have left to do before I post it.
But, when I compile, "hidesprite" is not recognized, and I don't know why.

Hello all, I'm looking to make a gary/blue mod for FireRed. I've played the beta 2 version of blue's mod, but it's been so long since an update, I wanted to try my hand at it. I'm just looking to sprite swap red and blue and possibly edit your rival's pokemon. Is this terribly difficult? I'm used to modding Castlevania games, but haven't had any experience with modding pokemon games. Any tools or utilities you could recommend would be greatly appreciated (I'm looking through the utilities section, just wanted to know if any were particularly useful to anyone).

I tend not to see that many people playing with the GBA Castlevania games enough to know this offhand. While I have played the games at this point I can't really remember much about them so I am going with the basic thought process.

As a general rule.
Is there a bonus mode/new game+ featuring them? Is there a section of the game where they have theoretically complete control (not just a walking only section, or given it was 2002 maybe a stealth section)?

If there are such things then chances are the sprite has all the relevant animations for all the weapons (as opposed to a NPC that might just walk and never use a weapon).

If no then you likely get to create all the "missing" animations. Just looked at a sprite sheet and if so then... while not the worst it is still going to be a fair bit of work.

Anyway if yes there is a fully fledged mode then you can approach it how you will. Obvious first step would be see if there is a character selected value somewhere in the game. These things are easier to find when there is a simple transform button or in game item but not impossible without it. Even if it is a bonus mode the dev might well have just got lazy (very possible with the portable castlevanias if my experiences and those of others are anything to go by) and coded something that is effectively a character swap. It could be anywhere or with anything in RAM.

Lazy option is overwrite or repoint the sprites, and presumably change the text in the script where necessary. This assumes characters with the same abilities as well as obviously just changing graphics will not do a lot for abilities.

Theoretically, it should be doable since they are both fully playable characters.

Hello all.
Does anyone know if it is possible to switch the function code of Juste and Maxim in castlevania harmony of dissonance to make Maxim the main character with a story? This is doable in aria of sorrow with Soma and Julius, but wasn't sure because Harmony seems to be coded differently.

Programming / Finding specific bytes in Aria of Sorrow

Hey, guys. Thought I'd check here before calling it quits on trying to locate the Starting Health byte location in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow for GBA. The starting hp is 320, which translates into 40 01.
I really don't feel like filtering through hundreds of those bytes testing. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks much.

 Hello all! This is an update to an older hack I worked on with I Am Me  starring Hugh Baldwin in an unofficial sequel to Circle of the Moon.  (And since, these characters aren't technically canon, who cares about  fanfiction??) I have added some new attacks, as well as a few references to older  games. The slash animation is off during the crouch because of the  limited frames I had to work with. Looks better than before, I like to  think. Enjoy! The download will be available as soon as I am able to  edit some sound clips.

Hello all,
I'm editing the text to the Mario 64 Hack that lets you play as Shy Guy.
I've edited all the text in the game that I want, except the dialogue peach has at the end. I found a link that addresses it,

but I'm running into an issue. I'm using this as a guide (and the javascript tool in it) and it seemed to work fine, but when I load my edited version, I get an error message about a continuous loop. I have the updated Project64 Emulator and my settings set to 8MB, as instructed. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any insight would be appreciated!

ROM Hacking Discussion / Sprite inserting issue with gba rom

Hello all,
I've been trying my hand at inserting sprites into gba roms (in this case, Castlevania Aria of Sorrow). I wanted to start off simple, so I downloaded ifranview and yychrr (tile molester won't work on my pc). I am able to copy a few frames into yychrr, but they seem to be using different palettes and I don't know why or how to fix it. I've been using a hex editor and Advanced Palette Editor, so I know the location of the palette, but I don't know why they are being treated as separate objects. I can't seem to import a palette in infranview either. Any tips would be appreciated.

Sorry for the late reply, but yes, I looked as well and I didn't have any luck. So, I just nerfed the defense on the armors and called it a day. :beer:

Ok, guys. I'm trying my hand at the Castlevania parodies again since, based on recent hacking efforts, I now have plenty of Castlevania characters to work with (and hopefully crossover). For now, I'll start with Nathan Graves and Hugh Baldwin from Castlevania Circle of the Moon. The base game for these parodies will be Aria of Sorrow, since it is easier to hack than previous titles.
Depending on how this goes will determine if I make more. Enjoy!

I've finally finished and released Aria of Sorrow hacks centering around the protagonists for the Bloodstained Curse of the Moon series. Each hack has a specific story that follows whichever character is being controlled. Hello, all.  I've been having an issue finding the address where the bytes for the player's health is located in Aria of Sorrow. I've found starting MP and stats, but no health. Can't find it by getting hit and checking back either. Any Ideas?
Was going to make my next hack a magician mode style with half health and double MP.

Hello, all!
Finally Releasing version 1 of my fully modified Aria of Sorrow featuring Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon's Zangetsu and allies.
The game serves as a sequel to Curse of the Moon after the good ending (recruit everyone and beat Nightmare mode). Be sure to read the dialogue and try out multiple souls as they have been altered to fit the new character. Some guardian souls have been altered so you just have to tap the R button to turn them on and off instead of holding it down (great armor, flying armor etc..) Items, stats and some enemies have also been edited to make the game feel a bit more original. Gebel and Alfred hacks are in the works as well. Enjoy!!
