I think the best person to ask would be Todd Blankenship, or Herms98 as he's known on Twitter. He's a known Toriyama scholar who translates interviews with Toriyama on Kanzenshuu.com, one of the most noteworthy English Dragon Ball fansites out there and helped with Discotek's DVD release of the first five Dr. Slump movies.

I would like an optional patch for a B Button run, as it really speeds up the game for me.

I would also like to see some changed spell names in the Chaos Edition so that they are more faithful to the Famicom version:

Focus - Shape
Sleep - Sleepel
Temper - Strike
Focura - Shara
Scourge - Clouda/Cloudkill (Clouda is a literal translation of the spell name, while Cloudkill is the name of the D&D spell it was based on)

I think you can go with the Four Chaoses. After all, the Four Fiends are known as the Four Heavenly Kings (or the Shitennou), not the Four Chaoses.

I never liked how Mog talked in the SNES version. It always reminded me of that whole 90s "mascot with attitude" craze. Any plans to revise it to be more faithful to more modern ports?

Little tip: Do not test your translation patches on ZSNES. It's an outdated and buggy emulator. Use bsnes or snes9x instead. Also, I can't talk to anyone in the first room and saves do not work. Still, it's a good start!

A user on GameFAQs named x_loto did a fully translated script for FF1 a while back. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/nes/522595-final-fantasy/faqs/49423

It's a bit rough around the edges, but it could help you a lot. He also did a translated script for the first 3 Dragon Quest games that ChickenKnife used as a basis for his Delocalized editions.

Here are the more notable mistakes he found so far. I'm using the original Woolsey script here by the way since your patch is based of it.:

Luka should be Rusa Luka, a reference to the rusalka, a water spirit in Slavic mythology.

Each cannon travel brother has a different laugh and speech quirk.

The Goblins speak in katakana, which KWhazit decided to translate with all caps and broken English.

Watts does not say that the axe is worthless. He just says that the axe doesn't seem to work.

Elinee did not dispatch Pandora's citizens, as they are found near the shrine later on. She really enfeebled them, or made them weaker.

Emperor Vandole's four generals are known as the Shitennou, or the Four Heavenly Kings, a recurring concept in Japanese media originating from Buddhism. My suggested translations for this title are Four Fiends (used in FF4), the Elite Four (used in Pokemon), or the Four Horsemen (possibly the Shitennou's closest counterpart in western mythology.)

The Scorpion Gang are based on the Doronbo Gang from Yatterman, which popularized the Terrible Trio trope. KWhazit translated them as Team Scorpion, referring to Team Rocket, which are the most notable example in the English speaking world.

A playable boss hack for these SNES and Genesis fighters WITHOUT easy move. Cause sometimes, I want to play the game with the original special move commands, but not have to enter a long ass code to unlock the bosses. Plus, it would be useful for tournaments.

Personally, I think the Link to the Past font looks the best. Also, I have three minor corrections.

1. The word form in "Perfect form" and "android" needs to be capitalized.
2. Cell is always referred to with male pronouns in the Japanese manga, the anime and all dubbed versions of said anime. The only piece of media that refers to him with gender-neutral pronouns was VIZ Media's translation of the manga, which has plenty of flaws itself and was written by a registered sex offender. (No, I'm not making this up.) Not to mention the fact that his cells are all comprised from male characters.

The PAL version of Super Butoden 2 (Dragon Ball Z 2: la L├ęgende Saien) has Goku and Broli unlocked from the start, but the versions of Super Butoden 1 and 3 still have SSJ Goku and Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks and Perfect Cell and Future Trunks, respectively, locked.

Suggestion: Malroth/Sidoh's title of "God of Destruction" should be refered to as "Destroyer", as FUNimation uses that title for Beerus in Dragon Ball, another Toriyama work.

I have a couple questions for you guys:

I can't decide what to do with a line in Mercado/Cantlin

"Let's exchange my "Portopia" for your "Dragon Quest"

Portopia was another square enix game in Japan apparently so we've got a cultural reference most readers wouldn't understand. What do you guys think I should do with that line? I really don't want to make a cultural reference here but I could say something like "Let's exchange my copy of Final Fantasy for your Dragon Quest.

Portopia was translated by DVD Translations, but I'm fine with localizing it. Just make sure it's another Enix game.

Also, will Ortega's sprite in Dragon Quest III be the Kandar pallet swap from the Japanese version, or the unique sprite from the English version?
