Holy hell, what is this even? It looks really stylish, the only thing I recognize from SMW is sound effects! Worth following. Keep up the good work!

Sounds quite cool! I am wondering what tools you're using to make all this possible! I'm used to GBA Pokémon hacking, and somehow never considered looking into Gen 1/2 hacks  :o

EDIT: I also want to say that I am really interested in the quality of life changes, as well as the ability to have rematches with Gym Leaders and the Elite Four. Because I like consistency,

I'm not as interested in the changes to Pokémon themselves. I also don't see why the intro gets removed, as that's still a presentation aspect and not a gameplay one. It's also easily skippable (I assume you mean the cutscene concerning Suicune and Unown). Is there an option to use the QoL stuff without changing difficulty and/or changes to things that will be back to normal in Gen 3?

Looking very sleek! It's still coming along nicely it seems.

I noticed a minor grammar error in the very intro of the game.
"But now there are some who would enslave the world by reviving the dread destructive force known as "magic.""

It should obviously be dreaded.

My current issue with Secret of Mana is not just the writing, but also the story being quite incoherent (didn't I read that on Redux? The seeds sealed/unsealed and needing to be sealed/unsealed). I don't know how much would need to be changed to make the story at least work, but maybe it's possible to aim for that? The Mana series' stories confuse me, if anything.

Meh. Think it'd be much better to just write what they were actually trying to write (at which they already failed horribly originally), instead of adding in stuff from later games. It'd be good to add stuff confirmed missing or unused but planned back in, though.

Wow, Landstalker! Now that's a game I didn't expect to show up here. This seems like a real interesting endeavor. I haven't played the game yet, the controls take some getting used to. Still, this is something worth following.

Except I always manage to find it. Just never the right one the first time, despite the first ROM I get is advertised as being 1.1 and unheadered. Nothing wrong with making it easier for anyone to get their hands on the right one. Shouldn't upset anyone.

9
You know exactly what I mean when I say "FFII US 1.1." Don't play dumb please.

To ease your mind:
"Final Fantasy II (U) [!] (v1.1).smc"
No header

My goodness, it's so hard to find the right ROM for this hack, every single time. Just FFII US 1.1 Unheadered doesn't suffice.

I felt tempted to say "Someone is retranslating the game (again)?" But then I felt unsure if the term retranslation was correct on the FuSoYa patch.

Someone is retranslating the game? Woah, that's worth following.

Aah yes, that makes the most sense. Thanks a lot for taking the time to solve this mess.

That's really interesting. This site states something else, but I already kinda suspected it wasn't 'right,' since according to it, Xande did nothing for thousand years after being given mortality.

It's super interesting how vague the story of FF3 is. Most of the older RPGs had very simplistic stories.

Thanks a lot for the summary! So, the order of events is basically:

- thousands of years ago: Ancients, Floating Continent created, Flood of Light destroys the Ancients on the surface, they move to the Floating Continent
- (One) thousand years ago: Xande receives his gift, gets mad and uses the Earth Crystal to get his immortality back (by sinking stuff, causing earthquake on
  surface and all that)
- Recent/currently: Four Warriors of Light 'awaken,' events of FF3

Are Noah and his apprentices Ancients themselves too?

I felt this is the only place where people understand this game's story enough to give a solid answer.

I played a bit of this game on PC but I hate the look, so I switched to the NES version with Chaos Rush' translation. Great work, the best way to play this in my opinion!

My issue is that the more I play, the less I understand the plot. The FFwiki seems to be stating false information as well. It's clear by now that the Flood of Light took place 1000 years before the start of the game. However, the wiki states that Xande's sinking of the surface world/stopping time happened 1000 years before the start as well. The NES version doesn't seem to state the fact that this second event took place so long ago. I feel Xande's stopping of time only happened shortly before the start of the game.

Another thing the wiki says is that Xande was responsible for rising the Floating Continent into the air. However, the game seems to state it's the Ancients that did this, before the Flood of Light happened.

In the end, I can't seem to piece together when Xande decided to unleash earthquakes and sink the surface/freeze time at all. It doesn't seem sensible if that would happen around the same time as the Flood of Light that destroyed the civilization of the Ancients. The Floating Continent also was already around when Xande did all this.

Anyone who can explain this all to me?

Heyo, I was wondering what happened to the download file behind the link on the first page. It seems to have been taken down. Is there any other place for us to download it?

I did. He got Suicune. Still need to implement trainer edits but I've written all the custom teams out.

Nah, that'd be predictable and pathetic. That's Red's job in GSC.
