To ease your worried minds here is an update.

Message from Esperknight from the Linda Cubed thread.

Please keep in mind that in addition to Esper's dozens of projects, he also has full-time commitments to his professional and personal life that limit the amount of time he can spend on this hobby. I can guarantee you that finishing the hacking will be a long and drawn out process as it is not easy nor simple work. In addition the script still needs an edit and various bits of untranslated text are floating around. The project is essentially at that phase where 90% of the project is done, but it only accounts for 10% of the work. The last 10% completion-wise is 90% and it is hard work.

Please do not ask for updates and when there is something to say, we will tell you. Please also refrain from posting unless you absolutely have to or have something to discuss in the thread. Now I can tell you the next update will be in the form of a translation preview video, but when that will happen I don't know.

Pennywise isn't kidding.  If friend-of-translator says don't talk, then don't talk.  If this thread gets locked again, you're also not permitted to ask questions about it.  If you do, you'll receive a warning and your posts will become moderated.  Just treat this board as Romhacking's other IRC channel since the same suppressive restrictions apply.

I got glitch (using v0.85 patch) when forge "Def+" potion it always give a  Def+ potion when visited and can not forge other item

Also, the better news, this project is working flawlessly on BSNES from what I can test so far.  There hasn't been any issues at all and it's perfect thus far.  I'm hoping it'll hold out well still when I move the dialogue into banks 21-24.  If so, then this shall be a great start to everything else.

If you got it working on BSNES then perhaps it's also working on the PSP.

Never played it myself, but Famitsu gave it a 28/40, which is pretty low since they tend to overrate RPGs.

As an owner of both the PSP and Saturn, my preference is definitely the PSP.  My Saturn collects dust these days.  However, I'm not one to bite the hand that feeds me and am definitely pleased to see it finally being translated.

I do have an issue though and that's with the font used in the screenshots.  No way will old SDTVs display that super thin font and still be readable from across the room.  SDTV is still the proper way to play old games and it's also the reason thick fonts were created in the first place.

I'm working on the PSP version. What did you have to hack in the Saturn Version (to make an idead of what remains) ?

For the time being I've just implemented a VWF in the dialogues.

Sometimes the player's name shows up before the actual sentence, so you've gotta put something there. 

Take this screenshot from the original game for example:



So not only do they have a practical purpose, there's also a precedence.  Plus,  hattontown's quote brackets are an improvement visually over those used in the first game.

I know I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm pretty sure he could find better things to do with his time than fix something that isn't broke.

- When user prefers another GUI
- When emulator lacks preferred option(s)
- Hand held emulation, where speed > accuracy

BSNES runs like someone with their tendons sliced on my computer, and since I've already gone and fixed my problem, I'm perfectly happy wallowing in the crapulence of my inaccurate emulators (because I don't care about accuracy as long as the game runs).

Short answer: apathy.

How do you do it, JohnnyPeachfuzz?  How on earth are you able to play games without 10,000% accuracy?!!!!!

Every time I try, this is what happens:

"Wow! The music is off by .000001 milliseconds!"
"Egads! I can't believe the yellow block is 1 shade darker than it shows on the box!"
"NOOOO! The explosion fx isn't nearly as scrunchy as I remembered it back in my mother's womb!"

Technically, wouldn't a game built around laws be less difficult to play with them removed?  I'm assuming this is where the re-balancing mod would help.
