Personal Projects / Re: NES Metroid HD Pack
« on: September 14, 2018, 03:46:21 am »
I have both versions within Mesen... When I tried to install the newest pack, Mesen gave me that error... so I renamed the Metroid ROM which is stored in a separate folder than the original, and then I was able to install the new version.

Who would have thought this hack would exist? This is awesome; looking forward to this!

Well that's cool, but without a checksum listed, how is the patch validated?

I was the guy who submitted the fix request for [b1] to be included in the ROM name.

I did so based on the ROMs for this game in GoodNES V3.23b.

I guess the 2 conflict, but I used accurate methods to check the crc32 and md5 sha1 etc

My bad, they have all been unheadered - yet none matched the info on the project page.

On a side note, some of the roms that I patched and then tried in zsnes wouldn't load, but when I fixed the checksum - they would load, but the original game loaded and not the patched game. I have 2 different patched games uploaded below with headers applied with -addhead and -addnsrt, and then fixed checksum:

-removed link-

Patched/fixed/nsrt header:
-removed link-

Keep in mind that those files aren't the working version of 3.0 Zero Project.

So, I would like to know which utility was used to get the CRC32 of A998DB6B.

Moderator's Note:
Links to prepatched roms were removed.

Thanks for creating this awesome hack and for releasing the 3.0 version.

I am unsure if I am patching the correct ROM; I've tried about five different versions (which none have a matching hash/crc32 info as listed on the RHDN page):

The version I have (Mega Man X 3 (U) [!].smc) has the following info:

No-Intro Name: Mega Man X3 (USA)
(No-Intro version 20130701-030720)
ROM/File SHA-1: B226F7EC59283B05C1E276E2F433893F45027CAC

ROM CRC32 FA0FE671

I am wondering if I patch this ROM if it will be patched correctly.

Also I noticed in earlier versions of the hack that the title screen was modified with "Zero Project", was that removed with the 3.0 version?

My entry was rejected because I was dumb and didn't fill out the form correctly. I'll try again when I have time- most likely this weekend, just swamped with work right now. For now, just use the dropbox link.

Ah, I see. Anyways thanks for the awesome translation! Enjoying the game so far.

Alright- I don't want to keep y'all waiting any longer. Here, use this link until approval clears through

I just want to thank USC and my Japanese teacher again. When this project started, I was new to Japan and didn't speak any Japanese at all. I lived in Japan for three years, studied Japanese, passed the JLPT level 3, moved back to the US and finished this patch. You should always wonder where life will take you- it is an amazing, incredible experience. It is nothing you thought and everything you needed.

The only thing I ask of you is to do something. Just do something. I learned Japanese through a volunteer, and now I give this to you for free because I've gotten so many free things in my life. Share yourself with others- whatever you talent is, do it. Make someone brownies. Pick up trash at your park. Tutor some kid after school. It doesn't matter. Just do something.

I have been checking the Queue Status and the newest entries for translations but don't see yours.

Did something happen? or the staff haven't got to it yet?

Just some tenth hours >:(

It's a little irritating because I asked before precisely to avoid this kind of thing.

Good work though.

I'm sorta confused: did NikcDC legitimately continue your translation hack, and you weren't added to the credits on the project page? or was the submission an error?

I'm totally looking forward to this hack, Castlevania 1 & 2 were my favorite games as a kid ages ago - so to combine them would be awesome.

Also, those screenshots are cool, please keep them coming with progress.

Hey everyone, nothing new to report- this post is just to let you know, as always, that the project is ongoing and will be released when it is released. Thanks for your patience!

Thanks for update! I can wait as log as it takes ;)

Speaking of Resident Evil 1.5, has anyone else seen this?

There's a group that's restoring Resident Evil 1.5

I've been somewhat keeping up with that project.

More info on it it can be found here:

I'm still not able to get it working, which is a bummer. Blast it.

Have you already made sure the CRC32 of the rom is correct?

I've confirmed for just my own amusement that patching one of the other dumps of the game will not work.

(there are about 3 or so different dumps of the original Chinese game.)

Yeah, one patch in the archive is for Linblumb's English translation, and the other one is for Lugia's mod.

Before he fixed the patches/archive there were 3 patches.

Lugia's patch is already English translated.

This in my opinion is one of the best (if not the best) hacks I have seen the past couple years. Thanks for releasing the completed patch!

There are 3 patches :-[ and your instructions don't work with FCEUX 2.2.0 or Mednafen. I really wanted to play this.
