If your file extentions are visible, be sure your file name has only one dot (.) before the file extension; if your file extentions are hidden, remove any dots in the file name.

For example, simply make your file name as - Mother3Hack.zip

Here are the things I dont know how to fix:
- Title Screen Graphics
TITLE LOGO LAYOUT

0x176a   SUPER

0x17a0  TM

0x17a5   MARIO

0x17f3   BROS

0x181f  bottom part of BROS. with the period

0x1837  2

 ----
Example at 0x0176a SUPER

20CB0A0001...

20 = y-position
CB = x-position
0A = number of tiles used on that line
0001... = tiles used in the right side of the PPU viewer of FCEUX emulator.

SUPER, TM, MARIO, BROS. and 2 are laid out like this:

Just a suggestion. You really should improve that title screen, like what I did to Bowsette 2.

edit: then again...how does one even find that section as i see no direct link to it on the shortcut bar or side sections of the page. o_O

Newcomer's Board / Re: Credits submissions - who to include
« on: December 21, 2018, 08:38:03 pm »
List only direct contributors.

Indirect contributors should be omitted, like (as mentioned) beta testers and special thanks (like utility authors and "ideas man").

If you really want to credit those indirect contributors, you can always write a readme file and list them there.

IMO "Demon of Laplace" sounds better than "Laplace's Demon". Maybe because the former is easier to pronounce than the latter with the s's, (like Lah-plah-ses Dee-mon)

Rockman!
Here you can choose which of the special weapons and/or movement items (that you have obtained up until now) you want to equip!

You got this from <BOSS>!

OK! The <WEAPON> has been equipped!

Rockman!
You never know what might happen, so take one of the movement* items with you!

ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: Acceptable to include patchers in download?
« on: November 14, 2018, 12:37:27 am »
As much as possible, don't include the utilities in the package if its already available here or on other sites; just provide the links. It would be redundant to give away patchers in each and every time a hack is submitted.  Any benefit would be reduced file size and downloading time (if ever you have already all those aforementioned utilities).

Thanks for the report. The patch is recreated with the correct ROM. Good thing that the modified ROM matches the size of the original. The US version is still the same.

ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: Hack patches that impove original snes roms
« on: November 03, 2018, 01:44:11 am »
where precisely the line is drawn between mere improvements and game-changing mods.
Quote
Complete: A Complete hack has its own identity and an established premise of change applied throughout the entire game (levels, graphics, text, etc.). It should not appear as a minor variation of the original game, nor contain partially implemented ideas. For instance, a complete graphics and level hack would consist of most or all graphics and levels changed.
tl;dr If all levels are modified significantly, its a Complete hack.

Quote
Spoof: Complete Hacks that specialize in humor, usually being parodies of the original game. They also frequently contain adult content. The same rules apply to them as do Complete hacks.
Its a Complete hack with "more stuff."

Quote
Improvement: These hacks improve on some aspect of the original game, while leaving the majority of the original content intact. Game Improvement hacks must be in the spirit of an extension or enhancement to the original game. An example would be a hack that adds a new powerup to a platformer, or a new magic spell in an RPG. Improvement hacks are often ones intended to be used as a base for other hacks. While hacks that rebalance difficulty or modify game mechanics may be considered improvement hacks, those that apply simple cheats (infinite lives, invincibility, game genie or pro action relay codes) are considered out of scope for RHDN.
tl;dr If it adds a new feature in a game with no significant level design changes, its an Improvement.

Quote
Bugfix: A subcategory of Improvement for easy filtering; these are Improvement hacks that only fix bugs in the original game. This covers code, data and/or graphical fixes.
tl;dr This FIXES the original game.

Quote
Addendum: A hack that fixes bugs, improves upon, or revamps another author’s released hack. The resulting patch is intended to be a non-translation hack. Patches should contain addendum work only unless it is not possible due to the technical requirements of the patch (such as patches targeting a different ROM). Significant improvements that cause the hack to take on a new identity are exempt and may be submitted under the Complete category.
tl;dr This FIXES or IMPROVES another hack.

Newcomer's Board / Re: How to translate Mega Man 4 Robot master screen.
« on: November 01, 2018, 08:30:43 am »
Somehow you can not use that method of using .tbl files. You have to edit the screen layout itself.

Use MegaFLE X - http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/333/

*Load ROM
*Check Select Screen Mode checkbox
*On Tabs > Level > Open Screen Editor, Tile Editor, and TSA Editor

I think that Roll at Roll-Chan Series is DRN-001 and Mega Man (Rock) is DRN-002, is not it?
Its an open plot, nothing is affixed. But IMPO Roll-chan is still DRN-002.

Please, make a version without the Wilyfix-Nes style hack that BREAK the gameplay,
because the movement in the megadrive version it's different, you press
a direction and megaman walk a step, another time, another step, so for example you
can move the character to the best position to jump over a pit, that patch eliminate that and
you walk directly without that step, so you have problems. The buster it's the only good of the patch,
also make the game easier.
I think I will not add gameplay changes. I think its possible to apply some fixes from separate patches available. Not have tested yet though.

 ----
BTW, I don't feel like hacking the JP version. Is it worth hacking? I have Mottzilla's SRAM save hack as base, so the game will probably work normally with emulators and real hardware withour regional hoo-has.

ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: Dragon Quest III Enemy Viewer
« on: October 08, 2018, 08:10:28 pm »
Ok, so shouldn't these files be either modified or taken down if they are just going to cause problems?
These are old files that would be considered "grandfathered" or kept for history sake. If anyone can somehow make it work by modifying it for modern computers, that would be cool, I guess.

I have a couple questions regarding this utility.

1.This is listed under the snes version of the game but when I open it, it asks you to select a .nes file. Why?
2.I keep getting an HSP error. What is causing it?
1. Because it IS for the NES version, not the SNES. According to the readme, renaming the ROM as "dq3e.nes" (without quotes) makes it load automatically but the error still persists.

2. I don't know anything about HSP. But according to this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Soup_Processor

Quote
Hot Soup Processor is a programming language from Japan that was originally developed in 1994. It was originally based on BASIC, but has diverged significantly from those roots over the years. It is freeware as of 1996, and now is open source (OpenHSP) under the BSD licenses. HSP is used to teach programming in Japanese schools, and because it is freeware, it was a popular programming language for doujin soft in the late 1990s.
Maybe it would only run on "Japanese internet environment"

FWIW this similar utility by the same author also encounters the same error - http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/64/

I'm doing an update for Konami Wai Wai World. New titlescreen. Found the offsets and whatnot for the dialog. I have done the minigames so far. Gonna restore the original graphics too.
