not sure why anyone brought up wiiu when the retroarch for wiiu (like others have said) isn't even perfect yet. makes more sense for it to start on the wii first. qwertymodo did what most said was impossible. not only did he combine all the fmvs in chrono trigger but we will have msu-1 on the wii soon (hopefully) thanks to this snes9x implementation. really excited. wish I could contribute in some way. this will be a dream come true for me and many others who do their snes gaming on pcs or wii's.

I tested this on a real playstation and it actually works. I don't have a psp to test it on but im playing disc 1 right now on a playstation console.

Releasing the tools would make it easier for someone else to translate not just to English but any language as he said. This would make it available so anyone can use it either someone who wants to work on it or someone whos mildly interested. Instead of hand picking 1-2 translaters and then finding out they weren't interested after all. Its always good to have open options.

I agree with FAST6191 that any editor that isnt mario/zelda/chrono trigger related is nice because there seems to be 2-5 editors for certain games like mega man,metroid,chrono trigger,zelda,final fantasy etc while others dont even have 1 utility.


Some games which i have never seen tools for.

nes
Bucky o hare       (the designers looked like they spent more time on bucky himself but not the levels,def one i wish had a level editor)
Ninja Crusaders   (underrated 2 player game,ninjas who turn into animals.how do you beat that?)
TMNT 3              (Another 2 player game overshadowed by tmnt 2)


Genesis
Beyond Oasis
X-men 1 and 2 (If you were into marvel comics back in the 90's these games were heaven)
Vectorman 1 and 2 ( Nintendo had donkey kong country,sega had vectorman,one of those games that looks ahead of its time)

snes
Castlevania 4 (some of the most amazing sound effects i've heard in any game)
Contra 3        (Surprised theres no editor for this one)
Front Mission 1 (Never had so much fun destroying robots before but the story wasnt easy to grasp and it would have been nice to alter the text/story)

psx
Breath of Fire 3
Revelations: Persona (who isnt tired of rpg games with swords? First dark rpg i played where you could use a gun)       
Wipeoutxl aka wipeout2097 ( awesome visuals,sound etc...)

Actually you're correct,it was Chrono Cross and Xenogears which shared a similar engine. Maybe thats why theres tools already to translate those games but none for FFIX till recently.

It would be great to have a trilogy steam release with IX but thats wishfull thinking.

I remember hearing rumors that a PC port of FFIX was finished and all ready to go, but ended up just being stuck in a drawer somewhere.  Apparently the engines of FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX (and Parasite Eve 1 and 2) are very similar to each other, so it sounds feasible.

I wasn't previously aware that Aali had made another driver for FFVIII.  It was my understanding that the PC port of FFVIII was put together a little better than the PC port of FFVII, such that it was unnecessary.

If this is true about pc port for FFIX its good news because i read that besides those games sharing a similar engine that FFIX and Chrono Cross also shared a similar engine (goes along with both games being made same year). If this is the case its possible for them to port that game over. Maybe thats stretching it though.

and MarkGrass this is what i was trying to bring up. If they did buy "Aali's Driver" wouldnt they still need to give him credit or did they learn thier lesson from hcs64 and his name is somewhere in a text file?

This whole "Aali's OpenGL driver" is confusing. I mean did Aali create this himself and square used his driver to put FFVIII to pc or did square make the driver,Aali modified it and since its squares they were able to use it? Im confused because if Aali made it wouldnt it be illegal for them to use it to create a game or wouldnt square be smart/capable enought to make thier own driver to port the games over?

But ya i would love to see FFIX on pc. Would be nice to have all 3 games.

Like everyone else i discovered kruptar long ago but there was no english documentation. I tried signing up on the forum thinking there might be a video/picture tutorial somewhere i could use for reference. Thier forum system wasnt even working (i gave up after 3 tries).
