ROM Hacking Discussion / NES Link in A Link To The Past. [WIP]

So...I’m really happy to have my hack up on the site. I really appreciate it. As in celebration and as a next step, I’ll be posting a topic on help, info, and suggestions on the project. Let’s go into a bit of backstory. I first got into hacking Zelda 3 from my other personal project about remaking Zelda 1 in similar vain to AM2R. However, this seems more like a reasonable starting point....It did at first anyways. I found out how unfriendly it was to beginners the hard way...So remaking 1 was out of the question for me. But what did seem to be worthy of hacking was a textual and graphical change to simply put NES Link into A Link to the Past....Redux. Using Zcompress, YY-CHR, and Hyrule Magic, it was all almost ready to be submitted if not for one error...The erasing of the Graphic placement for the Name Select Screen. Cutting my losses, I was able to put the gfx I edited into the original rom and...submitted the ips patch I created. The screenshots were rushed and it was rough around the edges, but it was playable. Now, this is still being worked on. I created this to ask for suggestions, opinions, ideas, and help. Help for what? Well....

Assigning different palettes/creating brand new ones is one thing.

I want to have the original colors of the items. For example, the Boomerang was tan and brown with a green/blue/red ribbon (depending on Link’s Palette) on it, but the one in ALTTP features a blue and orange palette. I’d like to change or create a new palette associated with it without disturbing the other palettes. Same goes for the 8-bit tiles. Again, the boomerang will be used. The hud icons I changed reflect their NES counterparts with some exceptions. The boomerang is one of them, as the bottom left tile of the graphic in the uncompressed graphics is used somewhere else.
That’s the only one I can think of off the top of my head, but if I remember more, I’ll post it. I’m open to comments.
