Gaming Discussion / Good Vanilla/Chocolate Tier SMW Hacks?
« on: May 21, 2020, 08:08:22 pm »
Wasn't sure where to put this but then I remembered the bulk of what I am looking for is off-site.

Once again, I am looking for non-Kaizotastic SMW hacks that are more vanilla than not.

Gaming Discussion / Good Switch Stuff to Get Early On?
« on: November 30, 2019, 03:14:10 pm »
Semi-followup to my PS4 thread (now that the PS4's dead and I  have a Switch Lite coming in the mail soon).

What's some good (lesser-talked-about maybe?) stuff to get for a Switch Lite? I'm being lent Xenoblade 2 and Super Mario Odyssey and plan on playing DQXIS's demo once the data cap here resets with intent to get DQXIS if I get xmas money.

Other than that, physical-wise I intend to get FE: Three Houses and Pokemon Shield fairly early on relatively speaking.

Digitally I want to get Star Ocean First Departure R sometime this month.

Bonus points if it's console-only games you suggest or Switch-exclusive!

Gaming Discussion / RPG Maker Thread (probably again)
« on: June 06, 2019, 01:08:04 am »
Been delving back into the realm of (generally free) RPG Maker games again. I've been playing Theia: The Crimson Eclipse and Blackmoon Prophecy II lately.

Theia is here.
Blackmoon II is here.

Theia is one of the most technically advanced RPG Maker 2003 games I've seen. In tandem with engine hacks and whatnot it pushes RM2k3 to its limits. The plot is fairly interesting for an RPG Maker game (details available on request, I'm about 6 chapters in) and while the battle system is ATB it adds enough stuff to make it interesting. It's also very expansive with systems (fuse weapons! weapons have something similar to materia slots! characters can be talked to at a camp later on which will give them different skills depending on what you say!). A fun fact about the game some may not like is it was originally Italian and has been translated into English. I say may not like because I've seen grammar errors and untranslated strings. However, the English version is being worked on still as far as I know. I recommend it highly!

Blackmoon Prophecy II isn't quite as bells and whistles-y and is kinda hampered (I feel) by the fact it is a Final Fantasy fangame and a sequel to a game I got so stuck in because of poor balancing over the years it was out screwing up the area I was in. Characters are decentish, most depth in the ATB is due to equipment decisions, and Magic is freaking overpowered (later enemies can autododge physical!). However, take the whole package and I'm still enjoying it. Writing isn't too bad but I'm kinda sad the dev hasn't really spread his wings to do different stuff (however he has tried) besides Blackmoon Prophecy. His next game is probably going to be Blackmoon Prophecy 3 I believe. I recommend it over some RPG Maker games I've played in the past or if you're interested in a modern take on an FF fangame.

Gaming Discussion / Good PS4 Games to pick up early on?
« on: February 21, 2019, 09:51:40 pm »
Might be getting a PS4 soon, wanted to pick peoples' brains for when I can get more games for it. I usually play JRPGs and SRPGs and whatnot. Will be getting Guacamelee 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, and a few other games via gameshare when I can but otherwise I'm mostly on my own. Digital games a plus b/c the drive might have issues (that i think I can easily fix). Also keep in mind my main priorities for purchases are Dragon Quest 11 and Super Robot Wars V so I'll be good on the JRPG and SRPG front for a while.

Newcomer's Board / FF6 Bugfix Compilation Mirror?

Does anyone have a fairly recent version of the ff6 bugfix compilation that was over on slickproductions? Can't find it since SP seems to be down again.

Gaming Discussion / Online TCGs Thread
« on: June 17, 2017, 09:44:17 am »
Hearthstone, Gwent, Elder Scrolls Legends, Shadowverse, etc goes here. I personally play ESL and Gwent off and on right now, it's too late for me to get into hearthstone again and I hear the Shadowverse meta right now is terrible as heck.

I'm thinking of getting into the series again once I finish Ace Attorney vs Layton. Is it best to play the games in release order or in chronological order or just play the last 3?

Gaming Discussion / Pokemon Thread: Hot Skitty on Wailord Action
« on: April 17, 2017, 11:23:07 pm »
Too lazy to look for an old one of these outside using search and finding like 20 threads about dead romhacks.

POINT 1:
I can't play pokemon before Gen 3, am I the only person like this? I just feel that RBYGSC are too dated for my tastes. Even with Red++!

POINT 2:
Are there any good romhacks I haven't played that don't have crappy fakemons? Vega was an annoying slog, I'm looking forward to Gaia. I need to go finish Touhou Puppet Play Purple one of these days. Other than that, I've really only played rebalances like Yet Another Fire Red Hack.

POINT 3:
Opinions on Sun/Moon? I feel that they're honestly the best Pokemon games since Black/White. B2/W2 were excellent but I didn't care for the backpedaling on old pre-Unova Pokemon being transfer/post-game. X/Y are tedious and the Gym 1-Gym 2 gap is ridiculous. ORAS fell short in general for me in a lot of regards, I tried going back to it the other day and had difficulty getting back into it. Sun and Moon are excellent, I'm in the throes of a second playthrough with Popplio as my starter. I'm enjoying it a lot more than the 2 times I replayed Y and the 2 I replayed Alpha Sapphire.

POINT 4:
DIAMOND PEARL PLATINUM REMAKE WHEN, SHUT UP ABOUT POKEMON STARS ALREADY RUMOR MILL

Newcomer's Board / Newer GBA Pokemon-Related Tools?
« on: September 07, 2016, 03:28:48 am »
Aside from grabbing a hex editor, what do the kids these days use for romhacking Pokemon? I've read around on like Pokecommunity and it's all ancient stuff or things that will gradually or immediately break your rom.

Any suggestions for good utilities to assist in this endeavor, mostly with Fire Red?

Gaming Discussion / Mobages/Other Mobile Gaming

Getting a Kindle Fire tonight, what android/fire mobages/other mobile games are worth it?

Reviving an old thread I found when looking for something else.

I bought Suikoden 2 and 3 off PSN in the hopes that eventually they'll throw 4 and 5 up on PS3 at some point so I can complete the collection. I also got Ocarina of Time 3D now that it's dirt cheap in the hopes I can finally finish a 3D Zelda game and break my curse.

Gaming Discussion / SHOOT AND LOOT: BORDERLANDS THREAD
« on: April 01, 2016, 09:42:47 pm »
Recently got Borderlands Triple Pack for PS3, played some Borderlands 2 with a skype friend and was reminded how broken Mechromancer is (and I was Siren!). Also played a bit of Pre-Sequel by myself as Holo-Jack and might play as the Duchess with the same friend I was playing 2 with.

Anybody else still play Borderlands?

Gaming Discussion / SRW-related inquiry
« on: January 07, 2016, 10:58:08 pm »
Can someone summarize the plot of Super Robot Wars OG 2nd for me/direct me to a good summary? When it came out I never got around to reading a plot summary or anything because crap going on at the time.

Keep in mind the /m/ archives are probably dead still and I can't read most SRW-related boards because of years-ago shenanigans.

Newcomer's Board / dumb BGB question
« on: December 01, 2015, 06:09:09 am »
I'm trying out using BGB and mGBA instead of VBA-M lately and was wondering if there's a key/way to set a key to do frameskip on GBG or if I'm screwed on that matter?

Gaming Discussion / Moddable PC Games/PC Game Mods Thread
« on: October 27, 2015, 10:30:19 pm »
From Doom to MGS V, discuss PC game mods. Mostly made this because I was interested in playing Diablo 2 again and was wondering if there were any good mods for it out there.

In the mood for a general Pokemon thread, really hoping they announce a Z game or something soon. The wait is driving me bonkers.

Also, if anyone here does Pokemon breeding stuff on XYORAS: I need a Mawile Egg with some neat moves on it.

Gaming Discussion / RE: Licensed Lego Games

Which ones are worth it? I enjoyed Marvel Super Heroes.

Keep in mind, I'd be buying them for PS3/360 (preferably 360 because my PS3 needs a bigger install drive).

Gaming Discussion / RPG Maker Games Thread
« on: September 14, 2015, 11:11:16 am »
I'm nuts for RPG Maker games again, I completely blame someone on twitter who did two lists of great rpg maker and rpg maker type games. I've also found a few fun ones he hasn't mentioned.

vgperson translates a myriad of RPG Maker etc games, I personally recommend Return of Touhou Mother and Capella's Promise although I have Faraway Story and a few others sitting on my Hard Drive.

Another fun one is Tales of the Drunken Paladin. I haven't played much lately because my computer loves to choke on maps in VX and VX Ace that have a lot of stuff but the game's pretty fun and has an interesting sense of humor.

Every single game linked to here is free to my knowledge. Paid RPG Maker games exist (lolsteam) but I find the ones I've enjoyed are totally free.
