Gaming Discussion / Farewell tri-Ace =(

http://www.siliconera.com/2015/02/20/tri-ace-bought-mobile-company-nepro-japan/

I didn't hear about this until now, which is a damn shame. My favorite developer of all time is officially bought out and turned into a mobile developer.

All I can say is, this sucks.

Gaming Discussion / Re: Gaming Progress Thread

Outside of Hard, lowered difficulty on Catherine doesn't change a whole lot. There are more energy drinks on Easy than on Normal, but you can rewind on both.

I enjoy that game immensely, but my main goal is to Ace each level on Hard, which is a monumental challenge.

Unfortunately the final bonus challenge is glitched in the localized versions of the game, and is near-impossible (even moreso than usual) without playing with 2 people.

Gaming Discussion / Irrational Shutting Down

Irrational Games is shutting down, even after the success of Bioshock: Infinite. The article gives some reason why, but wow, that's both unexpected, and kind of a kick in the junk.

Gaming Discussion / 3DS XL issues.
« on: November 19, 2013, 11:32:11 pm »
So I have run into some issues with my 3DS on the physical side, and I'm looking for some input. On the lower left center of my screen there appears to be a crack. It looks too big for a dead pixel, but it doesn't run all the way through the screen (as in the screen is smooth) it almost appears to be between two screens. If I turn the system enough it looks like I can actually see around it. I honestly can't tell whether it's dust that somehow got trapped between the screens or whether it really is a crack.

I tried returning the system to Gamestop, and even with the warranty I got from them they stated that it's a cosmetic issue and won't replace it.

Anyone else have an issue like this? Or know anyone how has, and how it might be remedied?

I've had the issue for a while, and when I finally got around to trying to return the system it didn't work, so I'm a bit frustrated, as I haven't exactly had it long, nor have I been beating it up. I'm sure if I made a fuss I could get it replaced, but in the even that this can't be resolved, how hard is it to replace a screen on something like this?

Gaming Discussion / 3DS V. Vita?
« on: July 18, 2013, 07:21:30 pm »
I'm not asking which is inherently better, because that's rather subjective, but I've come to a point where I need to grab a handheld, and I intend to do so tomorrow.

I've been asking for opinions on the topic, because I'm rather deadlocked, but with SMT IV's release I'm seriously swinging that way. So anyone want to weigh in on the topic?

Pasted from another forum (my view going into it at the moment)

I was thinking about the vita, it is a very awesome looking handheld. I like the fact that it's connected to my PSN account, and I'm familiar with the store, and ins and out of the systems. But even with the handful of PSP games that I missed out on, that's still not a lot, and the price tag of $250 is steep.

The 3DS has a similar problem, there's not a whole lot that I'd like to play on the system, or the one that came before it. There seems to be enough to make me buy one though. SMT IV, Devil Survivor, and a larger library of games that I've not played, or Persona 4, Disgaea and having access to my PS1 Classic library on the go?

A very difficult choice, but I think I have to go with the 3DS this time.

Also any in depth info on backwards compatibility would be nice. For those that have one, or both of the systems are you happy with your purchase?

Gaming Discussion / The Last of Us

So yeah, the game deserves all the accolades it's getting. I haven't beaten it yet, but there was a point a moment ago where I turned the game off, and I was physically trembling. Also Troy Baker has pretty much solidified himself as one of the greatest English voice actors of our generation.

Edit: I know that it goes without saying usually, but this case needs special emphasis, avoid spoilers at all cost please.

Personal Projects / Busted PS3 into emulation machine?
« on: April 28, 2011, 02:38:00 pm »
Ok, generally it's not in my nature to ask for help like this, figuring stuff out is half the fun, but I'm completely in the dark here. I've got an 80 gig fat PS3 that doesn't read disk at all - AT ALL. It's pretty much useless as a modern gaming machine, which is fine. It's old, been run into the ground, and I know what caused the error, and it was my/previous owners fault. My goal is to turn it into something that can run, and store my very limited but very fun SNES/SEGA collection. It's portable enough I could take it with me, and sturdy enough to withstand gunshots. I can hook it up in my room for nostolgic gaming experience, and leave the actual PS3 on the HD in the living room.

So, are there any actual emulators built for the PS3, is it anything like running them on a PSP? A quick google has shown me most of them are built for linux, I haven't reformated the PS3 yet, but it did come with the other OS feature. Considering that it cannot play games anymore, watch movies, etc. I have no qualms about resetting the system settings, never updating the machine, and therefor never signing online, or breaking the terms of service set down Sony. This is merely a project to turn a non-working machine, into something I can use and enjoy.
