Gaming Discussion / The big list of Untranslated Sega Saturn Games
« on: October 07, 2018, 11:59:31 am »
Someone wanted a list of all known Sega Saturn games that haven't been translated, and so I made a unchecked dirty list of what is out there. I will go over these to see which ones were translated already by the community.

If anyone wants to make use of this list feel free to add it to your checklist database.

Fan Translated or WIP:
WIP - Akumajou Dracula X: Gekka no Yasoukyoku
WIP - Air Management '96
WIP - Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers (Unknown - Last activity 2013)
Dragon Force II: Kamisarishi Daichi ni
WIP - Grandia
WIP - Lunar: Silver Star Story
WIP - Nanatsu Kaze no Shima Monogatari
WIP - Ninpen Manmaru
WIP - Mahou Gakuen Lunar!
WIP - Princess Crown
WIP - Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner (Unknown - Someone was working on this but likely now a abandoned project)
Shining Force III Premium Disc
Shining Force III Scenario 2: Nerawareta Miko
Shining Force III Scenario 3: Hyouheki no Jashinguu
Shoujo Kakumei Utena: Itsuka Kakumei Sareru Monogatari

This will be updated randomly whenever there is a project coming along. If I missed any projects floating around please feel free to post and I'll add to it.

Because if the claims are true..then what were we all doing wrong in the beginning to the present?

Gaming Discussion / Tales of Destiny Director's Cut has shifted plans
« on: April 18, 2017, 01:05:46 am »

The project is not canceled, but has shifted to allow ruta more involvement into the project, and it will be getting a good kick in the ass to finally get the game to the finish line.

Whether this is going to affect the other projects is unknown to me.

I wished this got more views because literally the internet ruined the real story with all these false rumors, and bullshit.

There are days I kind of get tired of the gaming community...  :'(

Also it turns out that Tidus & Yuna took it to the next level, I didn't expect that to be in Final Fantasy material, I'm glad SE is not afraid to step over some boundaries.

Gaming Discussion / Zelda 2 Oddity
« on: March 28, 2017, 06:56:24 am »
Years ago, and I don't quite remember if I was playing the cart version or the gamecube version, but when I was traveling on the swamp area that I noticed something really different that had never happened in my previous playthroughs.

I saw a overworld dragon sprite, this dragon was in the Swamp near Midoro Palace.

I looked up spriters resource, and other places, but I saw no dragon sprite on there. I tried to engage with it, but another mob got to me first. I really don't know what to make of it, and if anyone here had the same experience let me know, I've been wanting to figure out this mystery for awhile now.

To note this enemy overworld dragon was moving really slow.

Possible theories:

1) If it was the cart version I was playing at the time then possibly I have some odd version of the game by pure luck?
2) If it was from the gamecube collection then it would have been discovered by now.

If I got some kind of odd golden cartridge then I need to inspect it somehow, I swear it has been bugging me since it happened because there is no black dragon overworld sprite listed in sprite resource sites.

In a sense it is a lost chapter of the series we never got, but I always wanted to know what the story was like, the only thing I know that it is a follow up to a sub-plot that appeared in Arc the Lad II.

Gaming Discussion / Good news for G.O.D. English Translation
« on: March 26, 2017, 02:54:07 am »

Hey all! Just want to share the good news in a little update! Bongo` has expanded the rom allowing for much more space and ensuring that nothing in this massive script needs to be bastardized. Every single file (save one) is now totally inserting without any issues! This will greatly speed things along as I won't have to spend as much of time trying to think of clever ways to shorten things.

At the same time, Taskforce has drawn up some beautiful new fonts for the game. He has spent hours and hours of his time making up from scratch, so we hope you really enjoy them! Here are a few samples for your viewing pleasure:

It sounds like it will start picking up pace pretty soon, so I guess we will be seeing more updates in the future, I'm slightly curious to know what kind of file they were having trouble with though.

Someone made a mention in Zeldix forums that it would make MSU-1 hacking a lot easier if a tool could seek out .spc files easily, so I thought I ask here to see if something could be done to make MSU-1 hacking more accessible.

Seems like whenever I read the threads about it on here that Romancing Saga 1-2-3 are incredibly problematic. I take it these are the hardest RPG SNES games to work with compared to anything else?

Gaming Discussion / Sega Genesis & Custom Music
« on: March 03, 2017, 02:20:16 am »
I wondered about this tonight if it would be possible to program custom music for sega genesis games, and it would be the equivalent to SNES's MSU-1. Imagining how many Sonic Titles would benefit with such a upgrade, and other titles. Now if I'm not mistaken the Mega CD was a add-on for the Genesis at the time right? Could it be possible to emulate & manipulate the code somehow to play custom music from the MegaCD side while the genesis side plays the game?

Now there's a catchy name for such a patch.. "Mega Genesis".

Gaming Discussion / One thing I don't quite understand about the Snes9x gx.
« on: February 25, 2017, 06:27:46 pm »
Why give the function to do High Quality Filtering X2 or other filter settings when it lags most games on specific consoles like the Wii? It seems like a odd choice to have that functionality available when you really can't do anything with it because of that issue. Unless someone out there has magically fixed the issue..I have not seen it. I think the function makes the games look damn amazing (Mega Man 7 looked really cleaned up), but the slowdown is the huge glaring flaw unfortunately.

Was that setting really only meant for Wii-U or other consoles? Just seems so odd.

Gaming Discussion / Bad News for Fans of the Ys Series
« on: February 18, 2017, 10:29:07 am »

Today, at a press event in San Francisco, NIS America announced they will be localizing the Falcom developed action RPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. The game will release in North America and Europe on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC (via Steam) in Fall 2017. The title will be released physically and digitally on both PlayStation platforms. It will also have dual audio support (English and Japanese) and the option for French for the text.

The reason this is bad news is because NIS America is known to butcher games, and give no support for glitches.

also it'd seem that XSEED is less than thrilled about losing the series; some tweets from their localization producer:
please don't ask me any questions related to NISA announcing Ys VIII. we didn't give it up willingly and I've cried like...a fuckton over it
giving up something I feel we put our heart into for for years has definitely hurt and I probably won't be getting over it for a while

From all of this..I think NIS-America can go to hell.

Programming / Question about using Normalization on a .Wav Track
« on: February 16, 2017, 11:05:41 am »
This is the program I'm using that qwertymodo shared when normalizing .Wav files:

Now I gotten pretty far with what I was doing as I normalized the track, and converted the file to .pcm...I came across a problem.

The file was still too loud, but unfortunately I'm not too familiar with the command lines, so I'm not sure what I will have to type in for the volume to be set a little more lower in order to find that sweet spot. If anyone can provide a small tutorial on how to lower the volume that would be great.

I figured it out! The program I was using was cancelling out my normalization effect from Audacity! Forgive my ignorance as I'm still fresh to audio programs, and I thought I needed that program for some kind of conversion purpose, but Audacity ended up saving me the headache, and managed to greatly reduce the volume level.

I'm playing MMX2 SNES version right now (been testing out MSU-1 patch), and I've noticed some sound effects that I really do not recall hearing before...unless my memory of the MMX collection is inaccurate. Maybe some of the sounds are a bit more pronounced due to higher level of volume now thanks to the patch?

I think this is the least explored when it comes to modifying games, and it would be a new, and interesting trend to start one day.

Be honest

You always wanted to see Luca Blight with voice acting..that would be so epic.

So I got a few video options I've been messing with, and here is what I've been looking at -

Soft Filter Enable (I have this automatically On since the screen would look ugly if I had this off)

Threaded Video (I don't know the benefits of this, but I have it off)
Vsync (I have this on automatically)
HW Bilinear Filtering (I have this on)

The issue is I don't know if HW Bi linear Filtering provides Cleaner graphics or having it off gives the game cleaner graphics. It seems HW Bilinear Filtering only benefits certain games, but not others, but if I have it off that it gives games a bit more of a colorful look, but there is some pixelation going on.

Also as a test when playing with the Bi Linear Filter on a game that I noticed that by having it off that it makes the Sand Tile graphics stretch around a little bit, but having it on shrinks it, and gives it a more cleaner look. The issue is I don't know which is the true graphics for the game.

What would be the perfect video settings when messing around with the video options?

Did it make you go apeshit?  :D

I've noticed there is none to be found on this site, and I'm wondering if any exist at all?
