Looking for some assistance with this ROM project in order to help uncompress the title screen, the 2nd player dialogue, and the level select option screen for 1st player mode. If anyone can help with this please let me know.

Hello. I am currently working on Thousand Land for the Xbox and am stuck with these menus. Unfortunately the menus don't appear to use the same format as the dialogue in the game so I am unsure if they even use dialogue or just drawn letters. Maybe someone out there has some better know how regarding these menus and how Xbox graphic files work. I did check the .DDS files and none of them represent what these menus are. Here are the menus in which I am referring to. Everything else in the game has been no problem so far but this is where the bulk of my problems are now.

I have a question about something that I am wondering can be solved.. Is there a way to make it when you are in the dungeon that when you turn left or right to make it go faster? The game play is god awful slow when it comes to moving around these dungeons.

Does anybody know about this project or have a patch for this? Looks real good and I can't find anything about it besides videos.

Personal Projects / Metroid Blast
« on: May 01, 2014, 11:59:03 pm »
Hello. This is our first attempt at doing a Metroid hack and we thought about implementing one with a Blaster Master theme. When pacnsacdave released his Dark Alliance hack for Blaster Master I figured why not do a hack for Metroid with the the Blaster Master theme? We teamed up and I bounced some ideas off him for graphics and other things and we came up with some neat concepts. Here are some screenshots of the graphics that have been done and the title screen. We still need to do the level designs yet but we wanted to iron out everything graphically before we take the next step forward which will be very very soon.

Also like to give credit to the authors of MDbTroid and Roidz' for using their doors, animated lava, and new Samus design. Also another thanks to Snarfblam for his auto-saving and wavy ice patch he released plus Editroid which is also making this project move forward greatly!

The story of this is that it takes place years after the events of Blaster Master and remnants of the space pirates are conducting weapons research and experimentation on what remained after Jason's events of the Blaster Master game. What horrors and grotesque things are happening on the world of Sophia the 3rd and what are the Space Pirates up to here? As Samus you must investigate and eliminate any threats in which you may discover on this strange far away world.....

*NOTE*
Also we are in need of somebody who is able to change the music in the game! If anybody is knowledgeable in this area we would welcome a great addition such as this to our hack! I took a crack at it and did not get too far :P

5/3/2014

We added new looking doors for each level here. We took them from Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, and made one out of the face of the guardian to get into level 2 in Blaster Master. We thought it would be a welcoming change instead of seeing the same looking door over and over again. Also we added a special playable character for those who beat the game in a fast enough time :)

Also does anybody know how to alter the enemy AI, speed or even add the feature for enemies to fire projectiles?

ROM Hacking Discussion / RockMan ABnormality
« on: January 12, 2014, 08:13:23 pm »
I came across this hack for Rockman 2 that appears to be abandoned since 2008. Wanted to see if anybody knew of the author or would like to finish it up. It has a lot of great implementations such as weapon behavior changes, AI changes, stage changes, and music changes. All that remains are the Bubble Man stage, Flash Man Stage, and the Wily Castle levels. It would be a shame to see this one go unfinished as a lot of work has been put into it.

Script Help and Language Discussion / Any clue as to what this is?

Trying to figure out how to get around this. Need to figure out if the translations off the dumps are done correctly and can't get anywhere to test it :P

Hello. I am currently working on Wizardry Gaiden IV - Throb of the Demon's Heart for the SNES and am currently stuck on what to do with the Larger Font portion of the game. Currently all the smaller lettered portions are almost done and am in need of advice or professional assistance on the project to move forward. Currently I got a combined picture dump of how the characters are arranged from the ROM itself and also put up a reference on some English that the larger font utilizes. Wondering where to start in going about making a table for something like this so that a proper dump could be made for translation. Any help or if anyone would like to join in on this project please let me know.

And a Demo Video

The game is mostly supposed to be a 'dream match' of some sort, which is why characters from year 1476 up to 2036 are in it.

Note: The story will be changing a lot until finished.

Year 1470, alternate timeline.
Dracula, having found out that his wife was accused of witchery and murdered along with his son, Adrian, who tried to help her by the townspeople goes insane from the grief and launches a full scale war against humanity. The church prepares a counterattack, but all is in vain as the human forces are no match for Dracula's army of darkness.

Year 1472.
Many soldiers die. Many vampire hunters are sent to their deaths, among them a young monk named Sypha.

Year 1476.
The church in desperation seeks for the help of a legendary family of Vampire Hunters, the Belmonts, who were chased out of the country centuries ago when they were found to possess inhuman abilities and branded as heretics. Their current heir, Trevor eventually agrees to help and goes to stop Dracula after being promised the return to Wallachia for his family and the their heresy forgotten.

Unfortunately even he dies during the battle. With the last hope lost, Europe is covered in eternal darkness and despair, and the long, despotic rule of the immortal Vlad Tepes, Dracula begins for many centuries.

Year 1886.
Not being stopped for several centuries Dracula's power grows steadily, as more and more lives are lost and their souls serve as his power. His castle, a huge structure looming over the countryside houses more and more beasts, who terrorize the entire continent.

Was this supposed to be how that story ended? It would normally be so, but Dracula's power eventually grew so huge it started affecting alternate dimensions, covering them in darkness and despair, giving birth to hellish beasts and wars.
And so, eventually a very similar dimension, where everything was going the exact same way until the year 1470 when Dracula's son, Adrian was spared his death due to his mother's last words was affected too. The land was quickly overrun by monsters all across the timeline and eventually Dracula's curse returned as well.

It was also the dimension that housed a certain time traveler, named Saint Germain. When the curse returned he immediately started investigating, and eventually discovered the cause. Knowing, that Dracula's power in that alternate world was too great for one person to handle he decided to gather the strongest people from all across the time, who were affected by the Curse, as well as those related to it in some way.

And now, after gathering them and taking to the root of their renewed misfortune caused by the returning curse the hunters prepare to storm the dark castle in order to stop Dracula.

You as a player can chose one of these characters and go through several battles with Dracula's powerful minions in order to reach Dracula and defeat him.

Each character has most of their unique abilities from their orginal game, except some of the most cheap ones. The gameplay is supposed to be more less castlevaniaish, focusing on the fighting part instead of platforming. Controls should be more less like in Symphony of the Night and the following games, although enhanced with more mobility.

Came across this recently and apparently went unfinished :( Its a hack of Dragon Warrior with a Super Mario Bros. Theme to it. Needs some work done to make it complete but it has an ok amount of work put into it already.

:banghead: Stuck at the moment as we are stumped on how to expand  (fit actual full names) these basic Item, Fish, and Animal names in the game. If anybody feels confident in taking this on, would you lend your help to us? There is not a lot to do and it would be great to have this game at 100% completion. All the dialogue is done & everything is translated. This is pretty much the roadblock that keeps us from moving any further. Send me or Pikachumanson a MSG or reply here if you are interested.  :banghead:

The link for the project is here

Here is a link to a forum in which the original author Optomon has unfortunately decided to drop this project. It shows a lot of potential and would be a shame for this to be left unfinished.
