Thoughts. MEGA MAN 11!!!  :woot!:

Might be the first in the Classic series to come out first in the West than Japan (the Japanese team calls the game 'Mega man 11' than 'Rockman 11'). New character designs are cooler (unlike the cartoon who knows when will air). Mega Man is audibly having guy's voice than a girly voice. Features only one new boss weapon (from hmmmm 'Aztec Man'). A new charge shot, looks like an overdrive type. Only a year to wait for it to happen. Anyways, a very good news for Mega Man fans out there

ROM Hacking Discussion / Adventure Island 2 Hacking
« on: May 04, 2017, 10:25:01 pm »
I'm hacking this game for a while now, but I noticed that the Nessy animation has a flaw.

When facing right, you can see on the gif below that the player has a "bumpy" animation,

While facing left, the player doesn't have that motion.

The walking animation is alright, just the idle animation that has that problem.

I tried swapping the metatiles manually, but it affected the walking animation.

Maybe there's a way to control the sequence of the sprites?

ROM Hacking Discussion / Gameboy: Sprite tile coordinates
« on: November 23, 2016, 07:14:58 pm »
I've been hacking Rockman World 5 and was wondering if anyone know the offsets of the player's sprite tile coordinates?
On the NES, its easy to manipulate the sprite tiles with the help of Capcom Sprite Assembler. I thought the GB game and the NES game had the same principle but I don't get any results; I tried corrupting to locate the coordinates, but none seems to work.

Script Help and Language Discussion / Pronoun for corpse or dead body
« on: November 11, 2016, 07:18:31 am »
I'm currently playing an adventure game where dead bodies are involved. I was wondering why they used pronouns like them, they, and their when talking about a corpse (even if its a single corpse)?

Oh look, free games

To celebrate Ubisoft's 30th anniversary, The Ubisoft Club is offering you seven digital PC games. Every month a new game will be revealed and free to download. Then it is yours to keep!
Hurry up, the game is available for a limited time.

Currently they are offering these games:
June - Prince of Persia
July - Splinter Cell
August - December - ???

Not really a fan of their games tho. Wonder what games they'll put out for free. Maybe they'll just offer games that they developed, not published like Grandia II?

I'm trying to translate Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) into my language, but then I found that Peach has her letters smh mismatched with the order. But according to other ppl, those letters are suppose to be hints when players new to the game have some backtracking to do after finishing it.

This blog had summed up some "mysteries" behind the cryptic letters -

The cryptic letters I encountered is World3 letter

It was pointed out that its highly probable that the White Blocks that the letter was mentioning are those throwable blocks

Also, this line in the JP ROM of SMB3 has this message located at 0x0366c0

しろいぶろっくは てきを けちらす
まほうの ちからが あるそうよ

Roughly thrown into GT reads -
White block will distract the enemy
It seems to have magical powers

replace けちらす with an equivalent word 蹴散らす
makes it say -
White block kick about the enemy
It seems to have magical powers

The other one is from World6

This doesn't make sense because there were no Whistle on World3
It was pointed out that it could have been World 1-Level 3, which where a Whistle is hidden.

However, in Japanese the letter reads, located at 0x036749 -
ピーチは とても げんきよ
いちわわーるどの みっつめの ごーるの
かげで きのぴおから まほうのふえを
もらって ください

GT says
Peach is very Genki
Ichiwarudo goal of Me three
The flute from Toad of magic in the shadow
Please got

Change those italicized words we get
ピーチは とても 元気よ
一ワールド三つめの ごーる
かげで きのぴおから まほうのふえを
もらって ください

Peach is very healthy
The goal of the item three goes one World
The flute from Toad of magic in the shadow
Please got
(Weird Peach refers to herself by her name)

If I understand this correctly, it probably says
I'm fine. Please get the Magic Flute from Toad in the shadows of World 1-Stage 3 or World 1-3

Gaming Discussion / Super Robot Taisen V

A new SRW game was announced -

Super Robot Taisen V without the "V" mechs (Victory Gundam, Voltes V, Combattler V) ... unless they were planning to make a sequel..

ROM Hacking Discussion / Gameboy sprite in Mega Man 2
« on: April 23, 2016, 02:31:18 am »
Does anyone know where are the offsets of sprite's coordinates in a Gameboy ROM?

I want to particularly fix this sprite of Megaman in Megaman 2 on the Gameboy.

As anyone can see in the pic above, the arm cannon is not attached to his arm by 1px.

Gaming Discussion / How do you play GB games with borders?
« on: April 04, 2016, 05:38:49 am »
I want to play Megaman gameboy games like this.

What emulator that does this?

Also, has anyone notice that Megaman swaps from hand-throw to buster arm when he's using a special weapon? Odd glitch.

ROM Hacking Discussion / Paaman - Enban wo Torikaese!! (J)
« on: February 12, 2016, 10:23:07 pm »
I'm checking out this game, Paaman - Enban wo Torikaese!! (J)

The game runs on VirtuaNES, Nestopia and Nintendulator, but fails on FCEUX. Is there a way to fix the ROM to play on FCEUX?

Gaming Discussion / Exist Archive looks like Valkyrie Profile
« on: November 24, 2015, 04:29:48 am »

Why wouldn't it, its from Tri-Ace. The battel system setup just made me think of that. And the premise seems like the MC is gathering souls of people who tragically died.

Coincidentally, I'm playing VP:Lenneth this past few days and I'm loving it!

Gaming Discussion / Pokemon Games and Chinese Translation
« on: July 14, 2015, 04:28:31 am »
I'm amazed at how much Pokemon games that are translated in Chinese.

I wonder if the author and others(I doubt he's a one-man romhacker/translator) has stockpiled it thru the years before submitting it here (in bulk) this month,

This article says that the ban for console games was lifted and stuff, I good read me think:

I had Windows 7 and MegaFLE X and Capcom Sprite Assembler works perfectly. But my HD died and had to replace it, however I have all my files on an external HD. I recently got a new HD and got Windows 8 for its OS. Sadly, the fore mentioned utilities doesn't work anymore. I keep getting this message on BOTH utilities

Run-time error '339':

Component 'COMCT232.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
Can anyone run these utilities using Windows 8? If so, how do you made them work?

ROM Hacking Discussion / How to patch Niji no Silkroad?
« on: January 25, 2014, 10:15:51 am »
I'm trying to play Rainbow Silkroad on FCEUX & VirtuaNES with Gaijin Productions' patch, but it doesn't work. However, the patched rom works with NESticles. How come?  :(

Newcomer's Board / Insert Rockman Titlescreen into Megaman
« on: November 24, 2013, 05:32:52 am »
Does anybody know how to insert (or reinsert) the Titlescreen from Rockman (JP version) to Megaman (US version)?
I had long noticed that Megaman's title pic is still in the US version except at the MEGAMAN title logo when view with YY-CHR.

ROM Hacking Discussion / Game Boy Colorizer!
« on: September 13, 2013, 04:15:41 am »
Heys! Has anyone tried to colorize any Game Boy games lately?

I found this and its relatively old and was downloaded over a thousand times now, yet there are only one or two hacks from it.

I read around that this utility gives bugs to most GB games when colorized. I might as well try this one out when I get home.  ;D

Before I colorize anything, I tried patching the Super Mario Land 2 gbp patch. It  seems that I can't patch it correctly & only get garbled colors on the game. What I do is:

File > Load ROM, then
File > Load GBP, then
File > Write ROM > Background Refresh Rate *64 > Type in ROM name with .gb file extension

Does anyone know how to patch it right?

I got it! You have to use a specific emulator to run the game properly. But its buggy, like when you die...
And yet its still buggy with trashed graphics after finishing the first stage! So annoying!  :banghead:

WHAT? There's a thread with a bugfix by Drakon?,16035.0.html  >:(

Gaming Discussion / Kira Kira Star Night
« on: September 06, 2013, 10:38:48 am »
Looks like there's an indie game developer in Japan who made a Famicom game this year called "Kira Kira Star Night"  :D

It's gameplay is about catching moving stars. But that's about it, I guess. However, it features catchy 8-bit music. The game might not be actually a Famicom game b/c the site says its for PC.  ::)

Gaming Discussion / New Nintendo 2DS release in October!

Can anyone's computer display the garbled texts correctly?  :(
