Yeah... these changes seem marginal at best. SOTN's translation was serviceable, it did its job, plus added camp value. 8-)
Why would you use "Demon Castle" when legions of gamers know it as Castlevania?

I haven't heard from DF pretty much since I made that post, but then again we weren't exactly chat buddies when not talking about Star Ocean. 8p Mainly a "business" relationship.

He seemed fine to me when I met him around that time, and I have no doubt he's doing well by himself, just retired from ROMhacking.

I quite liked the PSP port; the only problem is that it plays almost identically to SO2, meaning I have to wait a while between playing the two games since it's like playing one huge game with the same system.

I didn't think there was enough text in either version to really warrant a third translation, frankly.

Is Slime Morimori etc. the precursor to Rocket Slime on the DS? (Or is the latter a remake of it?) It looks practically identical.

As for Christmas... Star Ocean Blue Sphere plz?

How's the gameplay compared to EarthBound? I loved the humor in that game but the awkward menu scheme and limited inventory drove me nuts.

Romanization, even official romanization, rarely produces normal-looking names. In particular I recall the Chrono Cross name romanization, which was often way off base.

I much prefer names that look natural in English - Luca, Asura, etc. Iria/Ilia is a toss-up.

I'd really love to play this game on a real DS...

Unless Gid has tweaked the stats, there's only two foot armors that give DEF+5. One used to be called "KingShoes" and you could find it in the Shinsanken/Kung Fu chapter. The other used to be called "SurprisedGuy", and could be found in a secret room in the Bakumatsu/Ninja chapter.

Congrats Gid! I'd love to take the time to replay this little gem... unfortunately there's too many other things in my backlog right now. -_- But it looks awesome!

Gah, that's going to take some image editing... would it be at all possible to get them in bigger sizes, though? They're quite hard to see...

Hey, awesome!

I'm looking for sprites of the new characters from FFT:Lion War for an update at the FFCompendium. Basically I just need the face pic and a regular 3/4 view of Balthier, Luso, Bremondt, Aliste, Deathknight Argath, and male/female Dark Knights and Onion Knights. (That's 9 total, meaning 18 pics).

Any of you guys be able to help? It would be much appreciated.

Yep, that did it. Thanks! I still don't have much time to check it out but I'll do my best. 8-)

Hmm... I tried downloading it, but I can't get past the first screen. The text from RD shows up, then the Ocean Palace theme starts playing on a black background and no key does anything.

I'm using ZSNES 1.51 for Windows, on 32-bit Vista. Chrono.smc is 4,194,816 bytes and I'm using the headered IPS via ZSNES's auto-IPS feature.

Cool! It's been a while since I helped out on LAL... probably won't have time to play the new version though.

Wow, this looks awesome. Hope I'll have the time to give this a whirl at some point.

Congrats and many more!

Man, my site is going to be turning 10 in a year... Yowza. O_o

I'd like to have just the story scenes YouTubed. Not only am I going to be unable to play this personally, not having a modded PS2, I had enough annoyance with the battle system the first time round. >_<

Yeah... I watched four episodes of Nadia and got very sick of it very quickly. I actually haven't seen Kiki's Delivery Service yet, but it's on my list. 8p I don't think Studio Ghibli can technically do any wrong.
