Personal Projects / Re: Asuncia (PS1) project

...Anyway, great job! another Japanese PS1 title translated! if you're interested on starting another translation project, try Aconcagua, Mizzurna Falls or Ningyo no Rakuin, it's just a suggestion though. Thanks for the patch!

Nono, please don't do Mizzurna Falls. Someone's (Resident Eevee/Evie) doing that project with some programming partner(s).

Oh, hang on. Just two days ago that girl Resident Eevee had actually put out an update on her tumblr page on this project with the fully done English translation text files available for any people to attempt to romhack into a new patch! She's said that she hasn't been able to get in contact with the very skilled programmer that was working on it (Loboto 3/Gemini?). I think if you want to find out more you should ask Gemini here first and see how it's going.

Translation is done. All the compressed images were translated and I used a voice over for the movie text. This was a short project; about three months of light work. People aren't likely to be standing in line to play it, but someone did take the time to add it to the 'translation request' wiki (yes, someone actually reads that list  ), so at least one person's curiosity will be satisfied. On to other things.

Good whoa, this was indeed a relatively short project! I only added the links next to that game's row in that wiki. Someone else had added it in long ago.
Oh wow, there are still hundreds of missing decent games from between 1995-2005 that have to be added to the PSX, SAT & DC lists! I think it'd take me approx. 3 years to almost do it all!

Are you gonna be picking and working on a new PSX game project? Are there any selections that you'd be keen to tackle? Or to keep it close to your guard?

Has anyone seen this character analysis video released just over 1.5 years ago?

Oh yeah, I ordered Tomato's '...Be Book Bad...' book last October of 2017 and picked it up in November, I think. Hilarious. Must-have!

Oh, hang on. The first three photos from Tomato's post above actually shows his OTHER newer book which I detected on the new stuff page of that shop, while the bottom two photos are for the book that I ordered before the newer book came out. That's why I didn't know about the newer book.

It's called: press start to translate: This is what happens when you let a computer translate a video game?

Hey! I came across this English-language puppy: https://gamehacking.org/game/93208 - it shows all the cheat codes for that game. Hope this helps you.

This Square Faction database page has a good description of what this game's all about (Google Translate).

I suppose, though i dont really upload things there too often to begin with.
and at the risk of sounding like an asshat, while i still do browse RHDN at occasion, im really put off by the fact that i have to suffer hurting my eyes brosing it due to dark forum themes locked under a paywall with shady excuses, Im really not too fond of posting here or othervise involving myself with the site at all anymore.

Oh yeah, I didn't know till now why this site no longer has that traditional darkened theme anymore (At least as a free choice), which I was perturbed by. I had made some complaints and given some small good feedback about the newness of this 'RHDN 3.0' re-design. But after what you've said I think that's sad that I cannot use that lovely, old theme that was easier on my eyes, too, if I don't pay for it. Hmm.

been pretty quiet in here since i've been attempting to direct this projects attention towards the source a bit more (my own site)
but i figured i'll bear the news here too :)

so here we are, a debugging session started in april finally bore the fruit, and a hour ago, henrik merged a pull request on ppsspp master, which completely eliminates the existing blackscreen/crashing bug on Zill O'll, making it (as far as we currently know) 100% compatible with the emulator. it is now crash free on all 4 backends!! cookies and fruit juice for the devs!

Yahoo! Let me take this opportunity of my 100th post to congratulate you and the PPSSPP team on making this game fully compatible with the emulator.
To others who are confused, re. the '4 backends', he is referring to the selection of all four existing graphical backends that an user chooses from in the emulator to run a software, including OpenGL and DirectX 11 (Both of which used to exhibit the aforementioned issues).

P.S. I think you'd need to add your official Youtube channel to your profile. It's so other users can easily explore your videos from there.

Great job to every member on this patch hacking work! It's nice to see that stat display cap being lifted, a so strange design decision (Probably programming difficulties-related?) and I think the more legible text look nicer (And you said there are 6 different sets of fonts being used around. Wow. :o)

Seeing as the thick font in title screen in this new patch has not been edited, are you looking into updating that in the foreseeable future? I'm sure DackR has created his own sample for this situation. So perhaps you could contact him. I'm sure he'll be glad to help you out.

Finally! Thanks for the reminder.

Amen to that. I wanted to play it on a dedicated gaming/powerful computing platform and not on one of those mobile tablet ecosystems (Android/iOS). And this now happens.

Whee! I'm so happy to see that a proper translation patch of this game is being brought about!

... With the help of some awesome reverse engineering tools built by my compatriot in this project – which will be released together with some write-ups soon enough – we've made great progress during the last few months.

...

So is that compatriot the same DackR who was working on his own project or likely a different person?

Such a great month for new (and in some cases discovered) English language fan-translation patches on video games. With 3 prior examples from earlier this month plus 4 of the 5 listed above here there have been a total of 7 fully playable English fan-translation patches! So great! :woot!:

Hey. I came across this new tweet put up by FlashPV only within the last day! In it he produced two English language title screens for both Super Soukoban and Power Soukoban for the SFC. And surprisingly they do look different.

But unfortunately he has neither added in the 'u' letter after the first 'o' letter nor an accent above the first 'o' letter. Perhaps he can do the latter fix easily.

Is that the same Dragon Slayer that was released in NA for the TurboGrafx CD?

...

Yes, it's the same game. But I checked from a HG101 chart of Korean PC conversions saying that this DOS/Windows PC version was based off the PC-98 original specifically.

I would definitely rather have captioning over subbing. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

But before I concentrate on that, I need to concentrate on getting Zero out and Ziria translated.

I think you may have meant 'dubbing' instead of 'subbing', meaning new voice acting records in a language being implanted into a game. But we'll forgive you on that as you're busy.

OK, so just to clear all this up for us all. You're gonna do 1) Zero (SFC. Standalone story.), 2) TM 1: Ziria (PCE. Maybe part of the PSP pack too.), then 3) TM 2: Manji Maru (PCE and maybe part of the PSP pack as well as the NDS handheld version). That makes sense chronologically.

ahh it says rumored to be the most expensive... lol :P

Over 300 enemies, ~50 boss characters (with their own dialogues, presumedly), MORE THAN 90 MINUTES of animation (hopefully if a hacker can insert captioning onto these videos)! Oh God, that is a massive amount of translating/editing work to do including the story text...

Tom, will you want to add English captioning to the FMV cutscenes? That means you'd need to find a quality hacker who is well versed in PC Engine CD hacking and/or PSX/Saturn hacking...

Ooh, that'd be a good project that if completed would possibly pave the way for the only Dragon Slayer game left un-localized, the sequel and the 7th D.S. game.

I didn't know that Mr. Richard999 was also working on this one with you too. That's awesome. The text formatting looks very good even with some apparent glitches which, I'm sure, will be fixed soon.

Very cool news! So your team has beaten that translator Nana, who was planning to do this game, to the punch without asking for a single dollar from the public unlike her Patreon account. :P :cookie:  That's what this community is all about. Being keen to toss out new patches as fast & reliably as possible.

Also thanks for creating that convenient patching guide page on your team's site. This game looks so beautiful!

Poor you. This thread in the first page was started in 2014, 3 years before your prior comment above. By the way, I also noticed another thread somewhere outside here - did you make that one, too?

For what it's worth, this game has been added to Datacrystal as well as a link to here for help request. So it should get a more permanent promotion. It seems nice & polished for an adventure and I like the look of it. I just don't know much about the 'Case Closed' series of games, TBH; particularly as there have been too many of these titles that were never localized and I'm not really fond of the young boy character being a detective in the anime series (I know after he was turned from an adult in a bizarre circumstance). I'm pretty surprised that this was the only 'Case Closed' PS2 game (This series was mostly focused on handheld titles).

Edit: Oops. This is still the older thread. No new response over at the newer thread outside of RHDN.

...

EDIT: Come to think of it, Queen's Blade: Spiral Chaos will be 10 years old in 2019... I'd be up for translating that one. :)

Have you seen this project?

And here's a link to the two year anniversary blog post.

https://46okumen.com/2017/09/25/46-okumen-is-now-two-years-older/

Thanks for following our progress with things, hope to have more patches out before the end of the year!

I've been reading that blog post above and I'd like to know one thing. What text/image editing software do you guys use to translate and export the PC-98 game manuals into English language files?

Addendum: Also I've found out about Crimson III and its PC-98 port after checking KingMike's recent work on Crimson I on MSX. He still needs help with the translation on that if anyone in this team wishes to look into that. Crimson III was released on MSX2 and PC-88 as well as PC-98. It looks cool as and has got those gothic monster designs going for it.
Interested in it?
