I just need the last assistance to finalize a NES Classics Rom hack of NES Classic Dr Mario for gba which I'm doing to finalize it that replicates my NES Rom hack of Dr Mario I been stumped on it's last palette change to a color I need changed, plus with the year too.

So anyone who knows how GBA palettes work and help me finalize this troublesome palette?

So I could mod the year and have its anti-piracy flag disabled.

1 - I thought it would be the kidd type of alex. Somewhat disappointed.
2 - Out of curiosity, what emulator is shown on the screenshots?
3 - Why did you change the palette to blue? I take it the blue heart is a side effect of the heart sharing the same palette as something that you wanted to change the color from red to blue, but what is that thing?

1. well Alexander the bat is my silly sonic character that prefers to be called Alex.
2. it's mgba 0.4.0 the only working emulator that can work via on Mac OS 10.7
3. I'm trying to reflect the changes via to match my original NES Rom Hack of Dr. Mario which I made to be as Dr. Alex on a GBA Version so I have my own NES Classics Dr Alex as a GBA Game.

Yeah the two shades of blue makes it harder to spot the difference.  Yellow/Red/Blue all have very high contrast so there's no mistaking them.  But Blue/light-blue?  ehhhh

Other than that I like the graphical changes.  Alex is cute.

Thanks I'm trying to figure out why it's causing the clash of the sprites that is needed to be 351f the original pinkish red palette for the second half of the sprites.

this is supposed to replicate if I had ported over Dr. Alex rom hack into the GBA as a NES Classics series.
the other side of the pill is same sharing palettes but didn't change another sprite's palette at all so it must be programmed to be shared of a certain palette color.

I'm only like 98.5% done but this tricky palette is troublesome and the year still need to be changed too...with it's anti-piracy offset once this is done I'll release the patch after the troublesome hacks are done.

if you look at the window of the two sprites it changed the heart to blue and changed Fever virus to blue!

I don't know why it changed the second one to blue! I've got to change it to 351f for a pinkish red
So if it's an offset I must change to change it back please let me know so I can change the year to 2016 and disable the anti-piracy crash flag too.

PS I did found the offset that changed the palette for the OBJ and Backgrounds so that's done at least

There's a few things I noticed here the sprites are just like the NES but slightly squeezed to the size of the GBA and been trying to find the following offsets for Advance Palette Editor

Pill - Need to Reflect my Hack's colors
Mario - to change to colors of Alex
Background - the checker board and change that

without these offsets nor the offset to disable that anti-piracy checksum (if it's included in this Nes Classic GBA game)
I'm still studying the way the NES Classic is rendered in the sprites as I'll have to check out my sprites and do any adjustments before I fully hack this!

Plus can't get No$GBA Debug running due to a No.Exe bug in Wineskin

I just wanna have a little fun hacking Wario Blast and Change Wario into my own character but....when uploaded to a tile editor like GB Tile Editor or Tile Layer Pro and even tile molester a lot of the sprites are like garbled....did nintendo/hudson soft put some kind of compression data to prevent hacking of this game or what?

I'm like how I can hack the title Screen and main sprites then make it my own and how I hack the text in the rom itself too? I know nothing about ASM nor use the tile mapping or whatever to hack the tile screen to reflect my hack, NES is so easy to hack but not most gameboy games?

what I must do in order to hack most gameboy games?

Could this editor fix this issue according to The Cutting Rom Floor?

Haha, that's also one thing that I patched using this cool editor!

Well I just submitted a mini patch to let others get those four 10 coins - I call it Wario Land 2 5-2 Wall fix, waiting until it's on the list for the game soon. it was an easy fix anyway XD

I'm fiddlin' around in The Two Tools to Hack Streets of Rage 3 and I'm not get it right plus Pancake 3 has issues is my java as I do have the version 8 and most of the stuff is cut off and enough of that.

how do I get Custom Sprites in the game and do just that like take Mugen  hunter's Sonic Characters and make them genesis styled to import it on the game or take butthead and do the same thing?

Is there something I have to do to make it work if I wanted to use Mugen Hunter's Fighter Sprites like MH's Rouge?
I know I'm doing something wrong and it making it with the wrong colors.

I been working on the hack and even done the main text and other changes to reflect my own hack featuring Alexandria a REAL Doctor you'll visit! So anyway here's the game that almost completed! I can say about 99.2% Complete or so

I have that pirated cart with 45 games in 1 rom and according to the bootleg wiki it says this version of Super Mario World goes automatic with the level select and I haven't found the where to hack that out. Oh I've done this to extract it out as a seprate rom!

I was bored so I decided to take 10 minutes to look at the game.

Shortly after startup, the game does a checksum of everything between $B900-BDFF and will set a flag if the checksum fails.  In game, if the flag is set, it'll intentionally crash.

Easiest fix: remove the checksum code so it never sets the flag.

Change offset 0x11FD from B1 to 60

This will make the checksum routine exit just after initializing the flag to zero.

Thanks I can now hack it to say 2015 once I hack off the 9 to a five!!!

I have finalized the last of the remain things and now I could have a hand of getting some pixels done as I lack the skill to make some. I'm basically trying everything to sprite out the best I can by using photoshop for Alex.

I don't remember exactly what the solution is, but I do know Dr. Mario has some kind of anti-hacking code that intentionally freezes the games if the title screen is changed in certain ways.

Which sucks a lot if only I could get ahold of Shugo the creator the Dr. Luigi hack of Dr. Mario one with the year of the Luigi or the full version without that.

I do know that it doesn't lock up if I edit the pill's colors and the checker background

Why don't you hack over the Dr. Luigi ROM?

That's more of a hack from Dr. Mario with the 1990 - 2014 has the copyright year I could just change Nintendo to my name as if I did a game back in the 1990s

All you gotta do is this:

Open the ROM in any Tile editor, I used Tile Layer Pro (TLP).
You'll see the following image:

Where you se the two 5s is where the original number 9 was.
Replace the two 9s with those 5s I showed you in the image.

After that, open the ROM in a HEX Editor and search for the following string:

0C FF 01 03 03 00 <---- ONLY the first result!

Change it to:
0C FF 02 00 01 03

That should change the year to 2015 in the title screen and you should be able to enter to the game without any issues.
Then simply continue with the Dr. Alex title and then the Dr. Mario sprite, and you're good to go.
For the "Nintendo" word to "Alexander", simply change the Nintendo letters to match that of Alexander, but do not use any more tiles than what the original NINTENDO word has, which is 6, to avoid any corruption.

That's it.

I recommend you to please AVOID using any kind of export/import feature, no matter what.
That tends to have odd results. No matter how friendly Photoshop or any other image editor is, DO NOT use any of those or you might end up with a screwed hack.

All you need is one tile editor and FCEUX, nothing more.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just saw what you meant. :P
The game freezes as soon as a pill hits a virus.

Odd.

Just keep the year intact. :P

Yeah that's the issue I've made two backups in case I can't hack it anymore - there's got to be a way since the Dr. Luigi hack was moded whatever the trick was I could use as well.

Yeah I can use export feature to edit them with photoshop then return it back there faster, plus everytime I try change 1990 to 2015 it just crashes during gameplay so it's worthless!

Well I had to stuff the number five in an empty tile in order to hack the copyright year I've put in $1A from a 5 that I used that had the green background to and edited to suit the title screen's palette all is left is replacing Nintendo with my name I'll have to use a closest font so I can replace Nintendo to Alexander.

(it's freezing the game in the actual game so I'll fix it by using the nintendo logo)

Heck with no experience in ROM hacking I'm getting the hang of this! now if I could sprite out NES Graphcs

I did have the font that matches the Game's Title so I had it premade with the game's logo of mine and done Tile Layer Pro's export/Import Bmp feature so I can get it in quicker from the render font text I had and with photoshop's stroke inside to mimic the sprite's logo of the animation, my logo isn't the best but I've go it.

I may use the Dr. Lip one as ref to get her made that is if I can make the sprites needed

Not sure what kind of font matches the Nintendo one, if only there was a way to change 1990 to 2015

I'm currently hacking Dr Mario to Feature a character of mine as she's an actual doctor and feature her in the game titled Dr. Alex (Alexandria for Short) and I'm not as good to change everything and NES Screen Tool cannot hack the Dr. Mario Title and not sure what's the best tool to hack Mario to feature my character in her own palette.

and if anyone is wiling to lend me a hand for the graphics I'll be honored to credit them and then feature it here, as this would be a tricky task and I can know how to hack games and make it my own, plus I'm changing the copyright to suit my needs too.

I mocked up a quick skitched picture to explain what needs to be done



Update: I've found a video on how to hack the palette around and changed mario to the colors I'll need for her, now I just need to do the graphics, the title screen now has a blue touch to it.

Bow down the green prince! nah kiddin' I like to go by as Prince Manic or just Manic the hedgehog (which this is a a username I tend to use)

I'm starting to be instrested into this Hacking stuff like I always them Rom patches like translations to make it english and to graphical hacks or addons.

As I go there this site I felt why not I create a hack of my own to begin with and I may try Dr. Mario (if I had the right tools to mod the title screen)

I'm also not a graphical artist so I can't create sprites like a simple NES Sprite though.
