Is there a complete German (Deutsch) translation of this game? I've tried searching online but only only found an unfinished project at Starmen.net forums.

Gaming Discussion / BEST Emulation News Websites?
« on: August 02, 2016, 04:07:15 pm »
Hey,

What are the best websites with emulation news? The emulator-zone.com hasn't been updated since Nov. 2013!  ::) ::)

Here's some that I'm subscribed to via RSS:

Reddit Emulation: https://www.reddit.com/r/emulation/.rss
EMUcr: http://feeds.emucr.com/emucr
EMUTalk: http://www.emutalk.net/external.php?type=RSS2
Emulation on Android: https://www.reddit.com/r/EmulationOnAndroid/.rss

Do you guys have anymore?

Is there a list of all official German language SNES/MD releases?

I want to find a list of all German language releases (not ROM translations) for the SNES and Megadrive. For example, Landstalker for Genesis/Megadrive had an official German language release.

In the Goodset codes the ROM will have a (G) after the name.

Gaming Discussion / Re: List of untranslated Famicom games

I mentioned in the other thread that I was working on a comprehensive list of all Japanese games and their availability in English. At first I was like "god, are they ever going to stop translating NES games, MOVE ON, people" but now I'm looking at it and I'm like "YAAAAAAY only 318 left to go!!!!!!!"

This was time-consuming, but a lot of fun. I might work on a list for SNES next (or Playstation, as someone suggested, but testing all the games seems really difficult).

I'm sure I got a lot of stuff wrong, so I'm counting on all of you to correct me. :)

What was your methodology in making this list? I found an SFC game list.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Super_Famicom_games

The problem though is that it also includes games that were also released in the United States.

Illbleed is a fun little adventure produced by the guys who did Blue Stinger and Landstalker for the Genesis. The Toy Hunter segment was funny.

Wormland from Super Turrican 2 (SNES).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzTuegPnqF8

Of course there's others but I can't think of them right now. Check the Donkey Kong Country 2 OST for really good tunes.

By the way, the video I linked to is part of a "100 Best SNES Music" list so maybe you'll find something you like there.

Can anyone point me to any good politics-free gaming news sites?

I don't mean one that serves your opinion, or what you think my opinions might be (though I doubt you would know anyways, as I don't post here often and do not recall saying boo about politics here because I am not a person who cares for politics). I actually mean a site that either has it in their rules not to discuss politics, or maintains a ban on discussing can-of-worm topics whilst they are still hot topics.

Also, by "banning the discussion of topics" I do not mean "banning one side from giving their views". I actually mean "banning/warning/reprimanding anyone whatsoever for discussing the contentious topics at all, for whatever reason".

It doesn't have to be as strict as that, of course, but my basic point is that I am looking for a "we don't want to hear your political views, nor do we want to share ours"-gaming site/gaming news site.

Does anyone know of any?

Whoa. I was actually going to come here and post this question myself. What a strange cosmic coincidence.
Yeah websites like Kotaku and others have tainted themselves because of #Gamergate.
What about IGN and gamespot.com? I feel game reviews are redundant now because anyone can upload a review onto GameFAQS or put a Longplay on youtube with their commentary.

To be honest, I wish there was a website today that was like NEXT Generation magazine. Does anyone here remember NEXT Generation from the 90s (first issue Jan. 1995)? That was a gaming magazine, that had reviews, but mostly it had articles about the industry itself, where it was going, what new technologies it would use (remember this was the 90s with the transition to 3D) and they would interview industry leaders, CEOs like Howard Lincoln, etc. Man that was a great magazine.

Here's a link to the retromags.com uploads: The story from May 1995 is about the upcoming "Ultra 64"

Personally, I like sourceforge.net, but if you plan on making your utility closed-source, I guess it's not an option (although remember there are open-source licenses other than GNU-license)

« on: May 20, 2015, 01:03:03 am »
Don't forget to visit DoomWorld.com and check out their Cacowards over the last 21 years, you will find the best WADS/modifications for Doom.

By the way, I would also recommend you purchase Doom II. In fact, I would recommend most new people to Doom II first, because there are more WADs/modifications.

Check out Zandronum (formerly known as SkullTag) if you want to find people from ALL AROUND the WORLD to play with. The sourceport is based on Zdoom/GZdoom so you should have no problem setting up your controller.

My favorite multiplayer WADS are All Out War 2 and Real Guns Advanced 2. Set up your own server and play coop RGA2 with others.

Interesting game reminded me of Desert Strike with the isometric perspective.

i recently acquired a copy of mechwarrior for the snes and the game is great! its fun! why has no one made any hacks or utilities to hack mechwarrior? or maybe there are hacks and i just wasnt able to find them? anyone?

Perhaps you should become the first SNES Mechwarrior ROM-hacker.

Does anybody in this thread know what's the best way to play Windows 98 games on modern Windows Vista/7/8 32-bit and 64-bit laptops? Dosbox takes care of DOS games but what about Win 95/98?

Is there any program that does that or should one use Gparted on their harddisk-drive and install Win98 on a seperate partition?
I'm curious to figure out how to play Warcraft II, Age of Empires II, and Baldur's Gate II on my Win7 machine.

I've read that Final Fantasy III is VERY DIFFICULT, more so than Final Fantasy V. Maybe this patch will make it more playable ala the Mother/Earthbound 0 patches. In any case, I like that it makes the graphics more "SNES"-like.

PS: In the screenshot..."Mahboi"? "Pingas"? LoL too funny.  ::)

Gaming Discussion / What should I try out? MUGEN or Project M?
« on: May 15, 2015, 02:36:01 pm »
Hey,

What do you guys think is a more entertaining fighting game. MUGEN or Project M?
For those who are unaware MUGEN is a 2D-fighting game where anyone can create and upload custom content like fighters/stages/etc. so one can have fights like Ronald McDonald vs. Godzilla.

Project M is a mod of Super Smash Bros. Brawl (I don't know how they did it) that allows anyone to create custom characters.

Hey,

Do any of you guys enjoy the Chrontendo/Chronsega/Chronturbo series?
He updates sparsely (can't blame him, it is free labor) but I wanted to inform you that Chronsega 9 is out.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_ds-YneEUU&feature=youtu.be

If any of you guys enjoy his documentary style, please look into his other videos, there's HOURS of content. He goes through EVERY SINGLE GAME for these platforms in chronological order!

Gaming Discussion / Mobygames hits 50,000 Unique Games!
« on: May 15, 2015, 02:25:28 pm »
Hey,

Mobygames now has 50,000 unique games in its database. As thanks, they're changing all the box arts to be high resolution and without their watermark.

mobygames.com is a good website for any retro gamers who are looking for interesting games to play. Use the sidebar on the right to sort through their list. For example, filter 1995, super-nintendo, if you want to find what games were like 20 years ago.
