I'm not sure how it works exactly, I'll find out this weekend. I will report back though.

So your friend has a disk rewriter, that allows you to write .fds files to disks? Awesome, just try a patched game and see. If it doesn't work, try another one.

Really, if you have the chance to test it for yourself, I'm not sure why you need to ask us. :D In fact, we'd be more interested in your results, since I've never heard of people playing patched FDS games on real hardware. Come to think of it, you can try one of my translations, since I'm always keen to know how they run on hardware. ;)

I don't own that game sadly but I will definitely be testing Dead Zone!

physical cartridges that get patched seem to work fine in my experience so I'm hoping this will have a similar result. I'd love to talk to someone who has actually done it though.

Newcomer's Board / Question about translations on real hardware.

So I have a Twin Famicom and a pretty good library of disk system stuff. One of my games Dead Zone is unfortunately not Dead Zone (probably rewritten at some point), so a friend of mine is lending me his rewriter to put the correct game on the disk.

So my question is, will a patched image rewritten back onto the disk work on the hardware? because if so, I would like to patch my copy of esper dream as well as dead zone.

would it be possible to hack in the mini map from the sega ages phantasy star release into the original rom?

5
I really want to try that lagoon patch but I don't even know where to start with getting it running on my pi.

6
I've never been happier to be a native spanish speaker! thank you!

7
I've tried it on all versions, sadly it seems retropie users are out of luck.

8
is that version of snes9x available on retropie?

9
the one time I got it to work the text was missing. I have the right rom, and it's patched, but no matter what version of snes9x I use I cannot get it to work right.

sorry about that. I was just taken aback at how nasty it was.

From what I can tell, DD has quite a few more SNES releases arriving before the end of the year probably, including Aretha 2 which is complete and in beta testing at the moment. Really fantastic group. Them and Gideon really do incredible work which I'm personally very grateful for. Now if we could only get Rejoice translated we'd have the entire trilogy which is mind-blowing considering how obscure the franchise is.

Anyhow, the patch was released on the 3rd, hopefully that page gets approved shortly so I can finish posting and inform the community at large. Aretha is a pretty fun game so far.

Remember when I said I have no idea what I'm doing? I still don't, but I'm trying because I think it would be cool to have the news of a cool game I'm enjoying on this site.

MOD EDIT: Removed personal stuff.

the process is honestly way more complicated than it needs to be. regardless, I created a project page, which needs to be approved first? and then I had scrap my submission because I couldn't submit it until the project page was finished. what if DD didn't want a project page?

would this play on an everdrive? or does the extra hardware requirement prevent that?

the only game I'd love to see is a translation of law of the west. I loved that game on the C64

I'm a novice at romhacking. but I was wondering how much knowhow would I have to have to hack in the script from the C64 version into the Famicom version.

I LOVE these patches and I'm super grateful for them. I simply do not have the patience to finish these games otherwise.
