Hopefully the author for the 4 player battletoads fixed the glitch in Stage 11 that made coop impossible.

Playing version 1.1.2 on bsnes 0.7, I ran into a bug(?) in the Zora Casino where I could not lift the big stone out of the way after obtaining Lift lvl. 2.

I used a cheat to get around it and after I beat the dungeon I went back and tried to lift it again but couldn't.

This code allows you to always have one key, even if you use it to open a door:

7EF36F:01

I couldn't find anything to specifically give you the second crystal as the closest code would give you all the crystals.

You should contact the author who made the patch about this game-breaking bug. Since you streamed/recorded the gameplay, it should make his life a lot easier trying to figure out what went wrong.

The users at The Rockman EXE Zone usually have a good working knowledge on the Battle Network series. It looks like someone translated the original Jap versions a while back so that's a good sign.

Maybe this is what you're looking for? http://forums.therockmanexezone.com/topic/8545342/1/

If you're not sure on how to patch a ROM, look in the readme file. You can also look at the hack submission page and it should tell you what specific ROM it needs. In this case, either patch requires a Megaman 7 US ROM with a header.

You can tell right away if you patch the wrong type of ROM, because it will corrupt the ROM and make it unplayable. I use this to tell if my ROM has a header or not: http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/608/

The submission page also tells you what specific ROM version to patch. You can look at the hashing information (where it says ROM SHA-1 under file information) to make perfectly sure that the ROM you have is compatible. I use this tool to compare: http://download.cnet.com/MD5-SHA-Checksum-Utility/3000-2092_4-10911445.html

ROM Hacking Discussion / Re: The BIG list of randomizers!!
« on: December 28, 2016, 02:51:00 pm »
I tried the Pokemon TCG randomizer in this thread. After completing the randomized version, I wasn't really impressed with it as all it really did was shuffle the decks players use. So for example, you would go to the rock gym and play someone with a psychic deck, instead of a deck based around rock pokemon.

I found this one recently that randomizes the card data: https://github.com/xCrystal/TCGRandomizer#tcgrandomizer

I haven't tried it yet, but it seems like more of what I was expecting, although the original author has stopped working on it.

Newcomer's Board / Re: Madou Monogatari [Genesis] Translation
« on: October 20, 2016, 02:13:25 am »
Jumping in is really the best way to understand the contents and data structure of the ROM.

No, you don't have to disassemble the ROM in order to make changes. Sure, a disassembly, especially if one has already been commented on, will provide great insight to how the game works, but it's not absolutely necessary. Later if you're thinking about inserting some fancy script to better display the language, like VWF, then you'd want to take a look at the disassembly.

If there are no specific tools already created, you'll want to open the ROM in a Hex file editor. Translhextion will do just fine.

Specific versions of emulators that have debugging features will be what you're looking for. I don't know of any for the genesis, but I'm sure there is one out there on the Internet. The debugging emulator will help narrow down your search to a specific part of the ROM file involved with the process most of the time.

Unless you have previous experience with reverse engineering or working with these data sets, then you will surely find yourself lost. Read as much as you can to get an idea of what you can do and feel free to ask questions. We won't do your work for you, but there are others with experience who can help. There's been a lot of people who have worked with the genesis/mega drive before.

Hello and welcome to romhacking.net!

Keep an eye on the forums and the help wanted ads and I'm sure you'll find something you can contribute to.

Do you have experience working with video games or translating/localizing text? Or maybe you're just looking to get your feet wet when it comes to translation projects.

You should be able to create a patch by having an original copy and the modified copy be compared and then the patch file made. xdelta can do this for you: http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/598/

I've had Edge take a turn immediately after performing an action before.

When I fought the Fiend of Holy, there was a moment where I had the game paused and he was still under his cape. After I unpaused he skipped opening his cape and using the Comet Spell, used White Wind, and proceeded to do the cycle again while under his cape.

I can say that've been really enjoying this hack.

I've been using a Conjurer to help grind in Feymarch, but there's something weird about the HugeNaga he summons. The HP of the monster is not always consistent. Sometimes he'll summon one and Cecil will take it out for about 650. Most of the time they have about 1k of HP or more.

Also, I agree the Magus Sisters could've been changed. They're not hard at all because you have members in your party who are good at dealing physical attacks and Rydia who can deal a lot of damage to them at the same time. Maybe there should be a counter for summons.

Edward is a great party member to have now and is super useful with his Sing and "Salve" abilities. Plus his weapon can deal status effects.

How do Cecil's black magic spells work? I would assume that they don't rely on spirit/will since he really doesn't have any and he's always been used as a tank. They seem cute but not really useful because they don't always work.

I look forward to any more changes you make to this game and any updates to the hack.

If the Japanese music tracks are still in the USA ROM, that can make things a lot easier. It may then become a process of finding which hex values will play the music and changing them back, then creating a patch.

If they're not in the USA ROM, you may want to look into creating a MSU patch as it's probably a lot easier than trying to re-code music form scratch, essentially.

It seems odd that someone would create an easy mode hack for a hack that's meant to be challenging. If it's too hard, stop playing the hack?

I neglected to put the actual rom in the same folder. Thanks!
