Gaming Discussion / Newer Baseball games
« on: April 17, 2016, 06:19:32 pm »
I'm just looking for a fun baseball game.
The only newer games I really liked was Mlb power pros and Super Mega Baseball.
Am I dreaming to see something as customizeable as Nes Baseball Stars?
Midway had some fun sports games like Nba Showtime or Blitz the season I and 2. I like the idea of creating a player and earning attribute points.

Newcomer's Board / Large pointer table

I have a pointer table roughly x000-x700 where each pointer needs to be subtracted by 12(C).
I browsed through the pointer utilities; I have no need for scripts or text to insert. Is there anything for this simple of a hack to save me from doing it by hand

I've tweeked this games for years (and other BB games)
There doesn't seem to be any of the values you mention

This is Harris of BOS
50-LH/RH facial hair
0A-running speed
09-corresponds to position - doesnt seem to change anything except for bench players
00-only thing this changes for sure is bat placement for certain batting stances
2103-batting avg (321)
00-batting stance
00-charge mound if beaned
01-dont know most players have 00 here
9A-jersey number
0100-pointer to name

set a breakpoint at 03 (hitting) and the game never snaps

ROM Hacking Discussion / Bases Loded 1 hitting question

Has anyone else hacked this game

I want to figure out if the no.4 players are given a power boost (hard coded)
If I play 20 games - my clean up hitter will have 10 home runs and everyone else has 1 a piece

I've found just about everything in this game and nothing seems to explain power - the players have one byte that is *maybe* related to hitting

If I wanted to change BEST to LEGENDS, I would do so through breakpoints via the debugger? Find where the blank tiles are being loaded and replace them with letters?

Text doesn't always work that way there could be 10-50 spots using one blank space to save room. Sometimes you can just add letters with no problem depends how its laid out.  Other times there are pointers telling where each text string begins

I don't know much asm
What I did was open up the hex editor on the team select screen
right clicked on x23C8 (start of att table) and selected "add write breakpoint"
reset the game, when the debugger snaps (game freezes) kept hitting "run" on the debugger until right before the team select screen
kept scorlling up in debugger and hitting "run" until I see $55 getting loaded
LDA ($40),Y @ $014C = #$55
goto 014C (NES mem)in hex editor and set breakpoint (delete old breakpoint)
repeat previous steps until I see $55 getting loaded again
LDA $0440,Y @ $0448 = #$55 (took lots of snaps to find this)
set breakpoint at 0448
LDA ($06),Y @ $95B1 = #$55
I can tell from exp this is a ROM address - type in "seek to" 95B1 in debugger
search for the values on left side (all 55s) in seperate hex editor (non fceuxd hex editor)
I changed to all FF and loaded the rom, looked in fceuxd hex editor at x23C8 PPU mem to see if it was changed which it was so I have the right location, but its a pain in the ass because the att table isnt all 55s

What needs to be done is try to follow one of non 55 bytes on the att table the same way I did to get a ROM address

Thanks again. I did have something drawn on $4E and as soon as I erased it the door graphics were back to normal.
I did have to shoot the door just didnt realise it right away/sound wasn't on, no animation on doors.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I think I've got the doors/scorlling fixed,

but now the door graphics are messed up.
I no longer need to shoot the door to open it, just walk right through,
what's going on?

I belive the left door/right door options are checked off in editroid.

what its supposed to look like (metedit screen shot):

I know your question was for king mike
But I messed around with the rom some- dont have any good news. It looks like there are two att tables used for that screen. Looks like its loaded from x95C1 (all 55s).  That's as far as I got.  There are some bytes (05,A5) loaded seperatly in RAM onto the att table.

Newcomer's Board / A couple problems using metedit

Hi guys I did a complete metroid edit a while ago and its just been sitting on my hd because I ran into some probs.
I didn't change any of the rooms just did complete graphic and enemy hack. Anyhoo the problems are in the rooms where the scrolling changes direction.  ie. the entrance to kraids hideout. I can no longer go through the door on the right side, the game wants to go down even though bombs are needed to go down.'
Another problem are a couple doors I changed in the last level.  I think I replaced the "speacil door tile" with just regular tiles which is probably a big no no.

Is there any way to fix this stuff, I do not want to start over from scratch.  Any metroid documentation? I'm familar with hacking and using fceuxd.
