Sorry, I really had to go and couldn't write anything else.

Anyway, when I click on the patch links for SRWD and J, I get some weird error message and I can't download the patch. Can someone please explain? Thanks.

EDIT:I tried to cut and paste the message twice and it didn't work, so I had to modify my message. Basically it's a bunch of gibberish.

Get a decent browser. Your web browser seems to try to open the patches as text instead of downloading them. Right click on the download link and chose "save as..." or something similiar.

They're RAR files. Even Firefox opens them like that sometimes. Just do what Kaioshin said.

I can't get the Peacock King translation to work -- it says it has an unsupported mapper after patching (it worked before patching, though.)  Tried on several different emulators and with every version of the ROM I could find.

The patch was probably made with crap in the header of the hacked ROM. (aka "DiskDude!" or "Ni0330")
Use a hex editor to zero out ROM addresses 0x00007 to 0x0000F after patching.
Or use Nestopia. It seems to detect/ignore common header corruptions.

Yep.  It was Ni0330.  Does snark read this forum, or should someone drop them a note to tell them what's up?  I assume it's something they'd want to fix...
