It's a hack, not a retranslation, although the script has been cleaned up. Lots of minor tweaks and things to make this my ideal version of the far superior USA release. There may even be some undocumented stuff I added…

Sounds good, but I don't suppose they added the life bar and/or infinite continues of the Japanese version?

Well, he did say that his work could probably be applied to the japanese version, but I believe nothing is guaranteed. Incidently, I just read the readme in full and he had a bit of fun with it.

Maybe with some hacking expertise, those things could be added to the options menu?

Edit: Referring to the life bar and continues.

I'm also interested in that features (life bar and inf. continues).
In single play there is no need for them for me, but when it comes
to playing via kailera, oh, it's to hard - you don't know how to
cover your partner because you can't see him and there is no time
for adapting to each others playing style so in few seconds both
are killed. Life bar becomes very usefull in game and infinite conts.
will remove need of restarting whole game. So I'm looking for them
included.
---------------------
Hm... is there a way to set special attack on x/y/z button?
It would be very usefull for me if special will be removed from
selectable weapons and could be used with selected button  ::)
Other than that I think nothing could be better - cool hack

Out of intense curiosity, why is the USA release far superior? I had always thought the Japanese one was the definitive version, due to having a lifebar...

Were bits added to the USA release? If so, I might need to update my Xbox roms folder....

I don't know know if anyone has read the readme, but he does explain why he thinks the US version is better.

That's exactly why Japanese version's looked down on by the old-school run 'n gun fans. Contra don't need no stinkin' life bar!

Actually, I've never played much of Hard Corps because of my childish belief that's it's just not Contra if you can't play as a pair of shirtless palette-swapped Arnold clones, but I'm going to give it a go with the patch. Thank MIJET!
