Title: Lost my job and have been going all in on Youtube
Post by: realworksuks on March 01, 2018, 02:56:35 pm
What's up guys?! I was let go from my job a couple weeks ago and instead of immediately looking for a new job, I have been taking it easy and making Youtube videos!  I might not ever make any money off of this, however, I love to do it.

Check out my channel here!  https://www.youtube.com/user/realworksuks/videos (https://www.youtube.com/user/realworksuks/videos)

My channel is all gaming and technology related, except this is a video where I asked my two favorite ladies to marry me:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KF8E7E-f6uE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KF8E7E-f6uE)

I try to be funny in this video talking about Mario here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-2c8JIwzK0 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-2c8JIwzK0)

I beat the NES classic Battletoads here which is one of the hardest games of all time!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tZHTGgZiI0&t=333s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tZHTGgZiI0&t=333s)

My latest two videos which have the highest production values are here: I review Quake on the Sega Saturn https://youtu.be/DLxfixJjZF0 (https://youtu.be/DLxfixJjZF0) and here I review Doom 2 on the Sega Saturn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ct9YPzJmJIA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ct9YPzJmJIA)

Gamers, bored people, haters, all are welcome!  If you like the content, I would be very grateful if you would subscribe.  Thanks for looking guys and I appreciate any comments or feedback as well since I am new to this.

Soon I will have a capture card for HDMI so I can review newer games.

Your subject line sounds much more alarming. :o Taking it easy and doing what you love is one thing, but I do hope you're planning to find something else rather than "going all in".

At least you have ladies.

Yes, eventually my mind will tell me it's time to figure something out with my career or money.  For now, I have plenty saved up that I can take a nice vacation comfortably and work on my Youtube and whatever else I feel like.  I always try to look at the silver lining in things and I have been really enjoying myself the past few weeks.

I do appreciate you guys taking a look by the way and thanks for not shutting down the thread.  I realized after the fact that some might think I am spamming with a post like this. So I do appreciate it.  This has always been a great forum to participate in.

Well it is your name after all, "realworksuks".

Haha.  I really regret making that name and sticking with it all these years.  I made it when I was in college and had dreams of making a living off of poker.  I feel it creates some negative feelings from people... haha.  Oh well.

Well if you do want to make money off it, you should go by the quadfecta of youtube: like, comment, subscribe, patreon. It also doesn't hurt to whore out your content (without pissing people off).

I always do try to remind people to like and subscribe if they are enjoying the content.  But I think I'll wait on the Patreon for quite a while.  Maybe once I get like 500 subscribers possibly.

Speaking of Youtube videos though.  I do have a question.  I hardly ever see a Youtuber with a microphone attached to their clothing.  If you look at any of my videos, I have the mic attached to my clothes.  It's a dumb question, but where do most of these Youtubers put their microphones?

To be honnest I don't care if a microphone is visible or not when I watch a Youtube video. However you'd really need to edit the parts out where you say "I really need to go to toilet right now".

No matter how much I try I can't understand this video. What kind of strange humour is this?

Lol.  Glad to hear you made it that far in the Battletoads video.

I wouldn't try to analyze the marriage video too much.  We were at an arcade and I won a few tickets. I used the tickets to buy rings and propose to my favorite two girls.  The first one I may actually marry some day!

I put together a video about all the things I think are important about the Sega Saturn last night and can be seen here:  https://youtu.be/-IlaOOWEDrw

I hope I didn't miss anything.

Hey, are you open to doing live streams on your channel?

Recently, there has been this one game that people have been streaming often, and it results in lots of channel views and subscribers....
Title: Adventure Island on the NES pushed me harder than any game ever has.
Post by: realworksuks on May 19, 2018, 04:11:50 am
I have been spending the last 1-2 months of my life trying to do a "one credit clear" of Adventure Island on the NES.  In other words, beat the game without using any continues.  It has pushed me to the limits and I kind of developed an unhealthy obsession with completing this challenge near the end.  I finally did do it one night and I wanted to commemorate the journey in an epic 5 minute inspirational Youtube video.  It would mean a lot to me if you guys would check it out:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9G_2sjLt98

Also, I'd love to hear similar experiences that you guys have had that have made you feel this way as well.  I don't think another game will ever push me to the limits like this challenge has.  It was greater than beating Battletoads, Ghosts n Goblins you name it.

This is an insane accomplishment. I never even considered it intended to be finished without the continues (which is why I incorporated the feature into the game on my hack). I have finished battletoads and gng before, but this game only with continues. Kudos! I'll watch the video later for sure. Just can't right now. Again, really well done, this is HARD.

I will check out your video. A game like that for me Double Dragon 1 both for the arcade and NES.

I thought the same thing the first times I played the game.  I thought it was next to impossible and figured I would never even try to beat it.  A guy that follows my channel encouraged me to do it, though and I am glad he did.  The game is really good.  I've seen some of your videos btw... you are crazy at Battletoads!

I will check out your video. A game like that for me Double Dragon 1 both for the arcade and NES.

Thank you my friend!  I haven't beaten Double Dragon myself... I have tried a few times but that is a tough one.  I hope to beat it someday soon.

Your video was definitely cool. Congrats. I can definitely give you tips on Double Dragon if you try that game. I was sweating bullets trying to beat that game without continuing.

Double Dragon Arcade can easily be beaten if you have infinite money, as there's no limit on how much you can pay to win. I've beaten it using probably at least 50 coins :)

Double Dragon NES is hard and for me it required savestates, especially the 4th stage (the first 3 are ok). In the end you need a lot of luck, because if you're a frame late to punch the enemy he punches you instead sending you to your doom.

On Double Dragon I died when all of those spikes are falling from the ceiling.  It seemed random but I only attempted it once.  Someday soon I'll have to get it.

Double Dragon for the arcade doesn't take a lot of quarters to beat, but of course most spend a lot of quarters only to find that out. LOL! Same with Double Dragon on the NES.

With Double Dragon for the arcade, kicks and elbows are your best friend. 1 kick will stun most enemies. Elbows will knock down any enemy including Abobos. They just get back up pretty quickly until they have taken enough damage. Also, you must use the environment to your advantage. If there are cliffs and holes you can knock enemies off of for a quick kill, do it. Also taking an elevated stance like the boxes at the end of stage 2 or the cliff at the end of stage 3 where you fight the Green Abobo you want to use. Enemies can't hit you until they are on the platform so just hit them as they try to jump up. Now the trap at the beginning of stage 4 is the most daunting, but if you have patience, you can get by undamaged or minimum damage.

With the NES Double Dragon, there is enough time to where you can just punch the Williams at the very beginning without killing them til you have a minimum 3 hearts preferable 4. You get the Jump Kick at 3 and Hair Pull Kick at 4. You should be able to Jump Kick the Abobo at the end off the conveyor belt. Start off Stage 2 the same way, and you should have all 7 hearts in no time. Jump Kicking will definitely keep you out of most trouble in this game. The elbow in the game is actually stronger than the arcade version, but if your timing is off, you can take damage from enemies using it. Just 4 will drop even the Green Abobo.

I just beat Double Dragon last night.  I had a hard time with the pillars that show up on level 4.  The entire time I didn't think there was any rhyme or reason to the pattern and I just ran through as fast as I could.  However, after watching some other people play it, I think there are some things you can do to increase your chances on those pillars.  If you want to see the run it is here:  https://youtu.be/9hiBqvNuI4Y

Yeah this short section is definitely awful. Often I could survive up to level 4 without dying, only to loose everything straight up at the start of this section and get game over.

The section with stalactites falling in level 3 is tricky, but if you run immediately to the right you can avoid them as you're in before they start falling, if I remember well (I could be wrong).

It's not the same. On the NES you have 3 lives and zero continues, if you loose 3 lives it's game over and you have to re-start from the begining. In arcade as long as you pay you can continue, so even if you suck hard (I do) you can just insert more credits and the game's never over.
