Update By: Rodimus Primal

A major update to what many consider to be the best version of Final Fantasy VI, Ted Woolsey Uncensored Edition 2.00 has been released. Many lines in the script have been fine tuned and corrected where it was needed. This also includes the Updated Opera versions that use the modern translations of the famous Opera scene in the game.

Several issues in previous versions have been corrected. This includes a character walking through a wall, and the Sketch bug finally being correctly fixed. In addition, the Bug-Fixes version now includes a large list of bug fixes available that fix some of the worst bugs in the game. A Bug Fix Compendium has been added to document all of the changes and tweaks made in the game.

The Music Player included has also had corrections made to the song titles that the previous version had incorrectly.

To help everyone that wonders what name changes were made to items and monsters, lists are now included to give players an understanding of where the names come from.

With the Bug Fixes, Updated Opera, Add-Ons, and Music Player added in, this presents a fantastic way to experience the game, whether its for first time players or long time fans.

Enjoy!!

Woah! That's a lot of work! Many many thanks!

I bet including these gazillion of improvements and fixes into this hack was no easy task.

I'm eager to try it just to see how the "Opera Scene" looks now. I bet Spooniest and vivify93 had no easy time trying to sync that part.^^

Thank you for the kind words!

That certainly is a challenge and I give them a lot of credit. I wanted to make sure this update COULD be the final release as well. I'm happy with how it all came together with the help of ALL of you in the ROM hacking community.

FF6 update, or why FF7 is being postponed. Does anyone in Japan speak English? What does the word "final" mean?

I haven't played this game yet so forgive me if I'm wrong, but unless "Imperial" is a proper noun in the game, the "i" should be lower case.

Dang it! You're right. I must have been thinking it was proper noun since Stormtroopers are considered proper in Star Wars. Since that line was clearly a reference to when Luke meets Leia, I made the typo. I can easily fix it, and make an incremental update.

Actually, if it helps, Ted Woolsey wrote it as Imperial with a capital I 99% of the time.

Just double checked the script and yes it is like that throughout the game. Grammatically incorrect as it is, obviously this does carry over here. So, the question is, do I go over the script one more time to fix it?

I don't get it.

http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_Soldier_(Final_Fantasy_VI)

We also see 'Imperial Palace', etc, so I am pretty sure Imperial was supposed to be capitalized in the same way that one says 'Imperial soldier' or 'Imperial trooper' in Star Wars.

Why would you not capitalize Imperial?

Been doing some research on it. It depends on usage. In this case it is debatable and has been debated quite frequently. I think in this instance, it can be questionable but can be correct as well.

I say keep it as-is, just because it's less work.

I personally feel that since the Empire is basically a country by its own right, it makes sense to capitalize. You don't leave 'american' in lowercase.

Fine, let me make a point that may clarify your thinking.

This is Ted Woolsey's Uncensored Edition? He chose to capitalize Imperial?

Then it should stay.

I'm going to say leave it as is as long as things look consistent all throughout the game. But I'm also being a little selfish here, as I don't wanna keep having to patch this game every week because a new typo is found.

Also version 2.0 has a nice "final" ring to it.

See, it's even debatable here. It's a strange word and honestly, I think it fits as it is.

Hey, I'm new here and I have came across this wonderful site a few times and had to register an account.

That aside, I love this hack.  It is absolutely perfect and just as good as the GBA version. One thing that would of been nice to have is a patch to change the font to be like Final Fantasy VI Advance, but other than that thanks.

I think Imperial should be capitalized.
Is Sabin's final Blitz still called "Bum Rush"? Certainly there is a way to shorten Phantom Rush, like Phntm Rush or PhantomRsh or something.

What's wrong with "Bum Rush"? You can't seriously suggest that "Phntm Rush" looks better can you...

It's better in this case to go with the one that best fits menu limits, as neither name matches up.  Even though name canon is a thing for this term it's only in one game outside of things coming directly from VI (Dimensions), and in actuality the abilities aren't one single bit the same when you compare the original text.

One nitpick I do have though, is the title for the South Figaro weapon store a little off center for anyone else?  It looks a space or two off for me, but I don't really know if it can be fixed. XD

The Weapons and Armor thing could probably be fixed one of two ways. It gets renamed as a universal term like Armory, or if the font gets an added ampersand (&) so that the words get centered better. I think the coding prevents it from starting from the left.

As for the Blitz naming, initially I chose to keep Bum Rush over Phantom Rush as a throwback to the original (which is why I also changed Meteor Strike to Meteor Suplex. That and it's actually what it is), but I didn't take into account adding in the Blitz Names in the menu later on. Now that they are (with the Add-Ons patch), I think it best to keep it. There really isn't a way to make Phantom Rush look right in the menu, but it would look fine when used in battle. Since TWUE uses the extended abilities names patch, the battle names are in a different location.

Having the lowercase I in Imperial Stormtrooper just looks weird, even though it is technically correct. The question really boils down to what medium you're in. If you're writing an article or series of articles on the clinical subject of Empires and their troops, then yeah you'd probably decapitalize imperial when refering to soldiers in their armies.

But since this is a form of entertainment, and weird things like that pop someone's willing suspension of disbelief once in a while, it's probably better not to distract your reader for technical perfection's sake.

Also, yeah the Opera Scene measures the timing of words being on the screen pretty weirdly, I never have known exactly why, probably something to do with the switch for a 'text clear' being timed to a certain beat of the music with Delay Tags (in FF3usME they look like <Dx> where x is a numerical value of how many time periods to wait. it's something like .25 seconds = 1).

You can't quite fit every single word of the Opera in and just plug it in and expect it to refresh the boxes on tempo correctly, it takes a bit of finagling. Being the music head I am, I couldn't resist such interesting work. :)

I haven't played this game yet so forgive me if I'm wrong, but unless "Imperial" is a proper noun in the game, the "i" should be lower case.
(emphasis mine)

This condition is technically met, to be honest. They're referred to as the capital e "Empire" for most of the game, with only a "Gestahlian Empire" here or there if I recall correctly.
