Title: Editing Sonic 1 Special Stages
Post by: MopeDude-CD on February 15, 2017, 12:18:19 pm
Hello all! I'll be teaching you how to modify the Sonic 1 Special Stages.

First off, you need a Sonic 1 Disassembly (http://info.sonicretro.org/images/5/5f/Sonic_1_%28Split_and_Text_by_Hivebrain%29_%28ASM68K%29.zip Sonic 1 Disassembly), a Sonic 1 ROM to split (Must be renamed s1.bin. If it's a .md file, change it to .bin. It'll still work!), and The Sonic 1 Special Stage Editor (http://info.sonicretro.org/images/7/7c/S1SSE_v1.02.zip).

Open the editor and you will be greeted with this:

Opening files:

What you want to do now is open up a Special Stage file. They are located in the sslayout folder.
After you open it, there will be a pop-up that says "Decompress?" Click yes, so it will (Obviously) decompress it, and make it work.

Using the program:

Using it is simple, use the object menu to select an object, use ctrl+drag to move your view, and click/hold your mouse to place objects.

Thanks:

I hope this simple tutorial helped you or is useful to you, and thanks for at least reading it!
