Title: Metal Gear Solid (PSX)
Post by: robotnick on February 01, 2017, 04:02:12 pm

I want to create a Spanish translation patch for English MGS PC (Spanish voices + texts from PSX version). I managed to extract voices from PSX VOX.DAT voices file with Psound tool but don't I know how to encode them back to PSX/PC format (VOX.DAT from PC is almost the same than the PSX one but they splitted it into many .VOX files).

I tried to encode extracted WAV with MFAudio 1.1 tool (raw compressed ADPCM 16 bit, mono, 22050 rate) and paste it via hex editor to the .VOX file but sound plays 1 second in game and then mutes. Maybe wrong offset? I know it can be possible because I found an unofficial Russian dubbed PC version but I don't know how they did it.

These are my PC English and Russian files from game briefing:

Can anyone help me? Sorry for my bad English.

Thank you!
