Update By: pinkpuff

FF4kster, the all-in-one editor for Final Fantasy 4 has been updated yet again. This time, along with the usual array of bug fixes and minor improvements, there is an autobattle editor that allows you to change which battles are scripted as well as the scripts themselves. In addition, the program now contains a rudimentary map editor which allows you to edit the inner maps. The tile graphics have been blatantly ripped from FF4Tools, but if all goes well they will soon (hopefully by the next release) be dynamically read from the loaded ROM instead.

Several additional battle commands now have parameters that can be edited as well, including Steal, Boast, Cry, and even Fight!

FFIV is one of my favorite games of all time. I actually got into romhacking initially because I wanted to make a game like it. I eventually settled on FFI as we had the great FFHackster to work with... but man, I might have to check some of this program out

Hi Pinkpuff!
Do you mind having character sprite editing in the next update? I would love to have that!
And, if it's not too much, can you make a ROM expansion so I can add more spell sets and magic, and an index editor?
Anyways, this is by far my favourite FF hacking tool with FFHackster just as good! I'd love to see more masterpieces from you.

As far as I am aware Sprite Editing will still be a little bit of time down the line and unfortunately it is not easy to create a ROM Expansion for more spell sets and Magic because that's not so much ROM but RAM... earlier versions of the editor did have a command to add more Spell Sets, but then we saw that fed into RAM where it shouldn't so it had to be scrapped. Magic Indexes is more with text limits than it is anything else. If the game goes beyond the five character limit of spells (as enemy spells are) the game will display garbage for the spell names. There is a fix for that, but PinkPuff doesn't want to mess with that as it is a simple patch to apply and for the most part she prefers to keep things simple without having irreversible changes.

Thanks for telling me that, but what I actually wanted was to add more spells, not the letter names. Still, if sprite editing might take a while I might try fixing the bugs in YYCHR which doesn't work on me.

Yes... I am afraid adding more spells is out of the question as well. Past BF it is AI commands of sorts that shouldn't be touched, from what the Babil Documents say.

That said there are a few blank spaces for you to use...

The Spells right after W. Meteo are unused, DullSong is unused,  (It's part of a dummied Counter sequence for Milon-Z, but it is never used) The spell right after "y" is unused. B9 is unused, and BD is a super-haste Effect, but it is completely unused.

So right there that is 6 free spell slots... but if you meant Actual spells that the player can learn.. then I am afraid that is a bit trickier because of the 5 character limit and the 8 enemy spell name issues.

Hi Pinkpuff, this editor is really fascinating and as I'm in the early stages of planning a romhack to make using it, I'm curious whether there will be overworld, underworld, and moon map editing? Will there be a way to move the locations of towns, cave entrances, etc?

Thanks so much for the great work you're doing!
