Update By: KingMike

I have finished my translation patch for Deep Dungeon IV for the Famicom/NES.
This is an all-new translation featuring expanded text and menus. It should be complete and bug-free.
Translation and editing by odino and snark, and a little further by me.

Definitely worth a play. This one features a non-linear structure. It is also much less dependent on RNG luck than the prior games. And thus it is perhaps easier than the others.

So, now this only leaves III as the last untranslated Deep Dungeon. Still plan to finish that one, too. Don't know when though. That game is kind of unbalanced and has a couple dumb things in it (like characters randomly fumbling, and thus de-equipping, their weapons). :P

Glad to see this project is finished. It was a lot of fun re-translating all of those random lines; game certainly seems like it has an interesting story.

Neat! I'll play this, at some point. No idea when that will be though :(

Thanks for translating this, I'll probably try this too, especially if it is more like Might and Magic with more varied locations instead of Wizardry with just large dungeons.

There are several versions of the rom for this--do you have the checksum or crc for whichever one you used? And thanks for sharing, there's never enough good rpgs out there.

No pre-existing translation applied, and without any header garbage (if there is, and it will be noticeable because that header garbage will most likely cause the emulator to give an "unsupported mapper" error, this patch (http://www.romhacking.net/translations/1191/) will probably fix it).

It's OK, I solved the problem--there are three different flavors of that particular rom, the one you used was Deep Dungeon 4 - Kuro no Youjutsushi (J) [o1].nes with a crc-32 of 4ED58418, took a little digging to nail down all variants that I didn't have.

It is the GoodNES "Deep Dungeon 4 - Kuro no Youjutsushi (J)".
According to 7-Zip, CRC A66D6165. But that ROM has header garbage, so after fixing it by changing addresses 0x07 to 0x0F in the header to zero, it has CRC FE364BE5.

Very slick.  Thanks for this, KingMike!
