Update By: Jazz

Alrighty, this is an old project I did back in 2002. I have almost redone everything since the previous version listed Adventures of Arle by PokeUSA (http://www.romhacking.net/translations/557/). At the moment I am still working on much of the dialogue since the last version was all over the show. The dialogue now is 100% more accurate.

What's changed?

Things to know!

Some spell names and Monster names have currently been shortened due to many of the literal translations and there are no English names for them i.e. Knight Puppet is now Knitepet (same thing just shortened to more of a name). Not a big deal.

Will have a release as soon as I complete all status information, new title screen to the crap one I made 9 years ago and also at least up to the first battle of dialogue translated.

P.S. If you are extremely familiar with this game then please email me.

I think that font looks good, almost like it was meant to be in that game, what is that font called?

hahaha I know I'm probably finishing this for the 5 people that "might" play further than the first city even though it was addictive when it first came out. Just hate not finishing something.

Font looks great I agree, I tested over 40 fonts. I used them from an old Font file I use to keep just taking fonts from games and storing them in it. So to be honest, I have no idea what the font is.

I will release a testing patch once I complete the dialogue up to the first battle scene (which I'm really close to getting to). Dialogue hasn't been my biggest focus until now. I wanted to do most of the battle text, names, place names etc and some asm editing of menus and status screens.

Ok I created a new title screen. I'm still considering the look of it and whether or not the title should read Arle's Adventure... See what you think. I have the Original, Old and New from left to right.

Yeah, not sure what else to say other than nice job. :) The new one looks great. As for "Arle's Adventure", I think that's how I would have translated it as a knee-jerk translation. It's personal preference on how to word it though. Totally up to you. The meaning is nearly identical.

You could probably fit "Arle's Adventure" on one line, versus the way you had it set up on the other two titles. Also, you might want to consider having some of the letters jumbled up a bit like in the original.

Awesome thanks for the feedback. I personally think Arle's Adventure reads better. And also Magical Jewels. I've added my own touch keeping many elements of the titlescreen as I think a few changes isn't all that bad. I'm happy after remapping the titlescreen and some of the palettes also. What do you think?

I signed up to say I'm looking forward to this :cookie:
I haven't touched a gameboy game in years!  But this looks cute and fun...

Also, the new title...   I'm a little suspicious of the B/W bunny... but it looks great!

Thanks guys, and thanks for joining to post the comment. I'm not far off a patch release.

The "Bunny" is a silhouette of a pet dragon that the main character has :)

again looking forward to this, and I don't think you could make that title screen look any better then it does now, but if you want to prove me wrong go ahead.

Actually, I lied. Upon second glance I realize that the "bunny"/dragon thing is on the title twice. You should get rid of the silhouette since it's already in color below.

Other than that? Perfect. XD

Why was I not aware of this earlier?  This looks great.  I'll be sure to give it a shot, and thanks for the hard work!

Very exciting stuff here. 95% of the text up until the first battle is inserted. Due to the way the dialogue and banks are coded unless I can find someone with intermediate asm knowledge to assist me (if you can-contact me) to find out how the banks can be expanded to fit more text then I am having to cut down what is said. Sometimes this is a good thing as the game talks to you as if you are a complete moron in some areas.

Translation has had some great progress with the assistance of Tauwasser.

I am now in need of a translator that can help me with the dialogue. There funnily enough isn't actually that much as most of the paragraphs and convo's are very short. If you can help I'd be much appreciated.

Ryusui has been putting together a VWF for this game which I got to test a moment ago. Looks fantastic and once completed I can begin writing a great script for the translation and implementing it.

Ok Back to this thread. The project is still alive. I was a little thrown off by the half completed VWF which I may consider not having in the final patch even though it has great potential it is far too buggy and not sure if anyone is able to complete it.

Any help here?

Before this nice project dies because nobody shows interest, I would like to advice you to straightly ask your questions here (http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php/board,4.0.html).

I cant help at all since my only professions (without the help of tools) are graphic editing and quality control (aka beta-testing lol) but maybe someone will be able to help you on this if you specify your questions a little more.

The biggest pain in the butt with this game and probably why most quit was (apart from no one could figure out how the pointers worked) but the entire bank of text includes event code and 4byte pointers jumping all over the show. I miss pointer tables and script banks.

The game is really playable and the dialogue after the Mansion fight is fully inserted. Unless I can get a dedicated translator for this - I might release a patch as is and hold this until someone comes along.
