Final Fantasy V Plus - A Final Fantasy V enhancement

FF5+ is an overall enhancement of the classic RPG Final Fantasy V for SNES.
The goal of this project is to improve the game's variety, challenge, storyline and overall fun factor.

Features:
- Modification of all monsters and bosses
- Tweaked game mechanics and modified jobs/abilities to improve balance
- Increased character development with extra scenes and deeper personalities (long term goal)
- Extra challenges and mini-games (long term goal)

Version 0.5 is the current version:
- New areas: Karnak, Steamship, Karnak Castle and Ancient Library
- Major formation changes
- Major group changes
- Item steals and drops altered
- Items altered:
 - Spears can be Double Gripped with damage increase
 - Spears are now Back row OK
 - Healing staff casts cure
 - Rod breaking - Lvl 2 spells
- Algorithms modified:
 - Magic Sword does not ignore defense
 - Berserk increases M, not Attack
 - Blind status sets Hit% to 50%, not 25%

IPS does not include the English translation (apply the translation before the hack!)
To apply the patch, you need an original ROM with header.

fix midareuchi/rapid fire/barrage to not be so broken?

This is an FFV hack, early in making, by me. I am currently using Blitzkrieg's Multi Editor, but will switch to the new editor when it becomes available.

If you're referring to my editor, don't hold your breath. You'll probably be done by the time I get around to working on it again.

As a helpful tip, don't rely too much on an editor. It's a good way to get some basic work done without the messiness of hex editing, but sometimes you just need to twiddle some bits. Your problems with the Steel Bat and ManiWizard are probably easy fixes. Speaking of fixes, there's a bug which involves (if I remember) the TwinLance and the ChickenKnife. I don't remember the specifics, but I'm sure someone knows what I'm talking about.

In FF6, all it does is set the "can't be dodged" flag, so that all attacks will hit. I'm going to guess the same thing is going on here.

I hope to have at least a working beta on my new FF5ME for items, monsters, and characters/jobs by the summer (or spring?).  I'll keep you updated on Slick Productions.

No, I haven't. But SilverLance and Caesar claimed to have, but haven't shown a damn thing. I'd go ask them, although I'd be weary about taking anything they (CoN in general) say seriously.

ah, thanks, there is still much work to be done on FF4 and SoM I'm sure but we should definitely check that out in a bit over at slickproductions.

FF5 is documented.. but not for the romhackers though.

FF6 is documented up the rear and then some. This is the most modded game dude (see the number of hacks).

FF4 is half-documented, but that's been worked on.

SOM is too buggy to be worth documenting bugs in any sort of significance. I'm not a huge SOM fan, but the
algos aren't as complex AFAIK anyways.

Yeah, I'd estimate that the degree of documentation is like this:

FF6: Conservatively I'd put it around 75% documented. Probably even a bit higher.

FF4: About 50%

FF5: About 30%

SoM: I'm not too sure, but probably 20-40%

CT: About 80-90%

The amount of info known is relative to the tools+hacks created for said game.

It sounds obvious, because it is. 

From what I've learned, the sad thing about FF5 documentation is that, since its so rare and hard to come by, people don't want to share what they have. 

Kudos to the ones who do share though.
