Hello, I'm new here, and I'd like to show you a hack that I've been working on for almost a year now.
First off, Donkey Kong GB: Dinky Kong & Dixie Kong is the Japanese version of Donkey Kong Land III. The major difference is that this version is for the Game Boy Color instead of the (Super) Game Boy. That means that this version is a lot more colorful than the English version.
Now, the more I played this version, the more I thought this game was weird in terms of color. Some of the sprites had weird colors, especially if any of you have ever played DKC3. The main problem is that some sprites have this weird purple color.
So, I set out to figure out how to hack color palettes, and as soon as I figured out how to do so, this game was one of the first I went after. Over time, I gave some levels, some sprites, and some screens major overhauls.
I changed a lot of sprites (mostly the ones that had the odd purple in them), some of the levels (the biggest change I made was the river stages, which have this orange autumn look instead of the green spring look that I thought was boring), most of the world maps, and a few screens, like the title screen.
Here are some screenshots of this hack. The first column is the original, the second is what I changed it to.

There are a few more changes I made, but I think these screenshots should give you a good enough idea.
I'd like to know what other people think of this. Please let me know what you think!
Finally, here's the patch:
http://rapidshare.com/files/162835195/DKL3j.ipsSince only the Japanese version is for GBC, this IPS file will only work on the Japanese version. Don't try it on any other version! And I hope you all enjoy the patch!
