In the market for a new wireless mouse
« on: March 27, 2012, 01:23:20 pm »
I posted this at byuu's forum too, but I'm currently using a K360 and M510 from Logitech. I love the keyboard, but the mouse has given me nothing but problems since I got the keyboard.

You may remember another thread I made that said that when the keyboard and mouse are near each-other, they start acting finicky. I tried making threads about this on the Logitech support site and got no response. Later, my mouse's laser is basically non-functioning. I thought perhaps this was because I was mousing on a pillow on my couch, so I bought a mousepad. The change in surface didn't help (and besides, it's a laser mouse, aren't those things supposed to be able to function on glass?). So now I'm borrowing my girlfriend's extra Microsoft BlueTrack mouse, which works just fine (but I don't particularly care for the feel of the mouse, the scroll wheel is really sensitive, etc).

Anyone have recommendations for a good, sturdy wireless laser mouse?

I'm looking for something mid-grade. Something with more DPI than a normal mouse (I do play games occasionally), but something that isn't going to be $80.

Sounds like it loses the precision when I go wireless. I'm not close enough to my tower to have a three foot cord plugged in all the time.

Also, I read a review that says it goes to sleep after like...three minutes of inactivity, and it's a setting you can't change. Is that true?

Is it just possible there's interference that's occurring with the mouse and the wireless signal? They are using the same frequency (2.4GHz) like a wireless router... I'm not sure it is negotiating well with each other.

Not sure. I know that if that were the case, I would think using a different mouse wouldn't change anything. And my girlfriend has a separate wireless keyboard and mouse sitting right next to the router in the other room, and it doesn't affect anything on her end.

I personally think the mouse was just a POS.

Anyway, suggestions?

Sounds like it loses the precision when I go wireless.

Even at 2000DPI in wireless mode, you're still at least 2.5x higher DPI than an average OEM consumer mouse.

Well that is dumb.   :-\   I posted the link originally because I read some good reviews for the mouse and it fit your price range.

Oh well, the Logitech G700 is supposed to be good.  But who knows?

Oddly enough, it's almost as if Logitech's support detected that I was about to buy a new mouse. They finally responded to my thread. Still prolly gonna have to get a new one, though.

So far, this one sticks out as the best one for my circumstances: http://www.amazon.com/Razer-Laser-Gaming-Mouse-RZ01-00280100-R3/dp/B002MPPRPO/ref=sr_1_10?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1333043916&sr=1-10.

It's not wireless, but it DOES have a seven foot cord. Which means I could plug it into my tower and use it.

Any thoughts?

I don't suggest razer, they usually try too damn hard to add frills and they end up mucking up the whole product.
Try to get this on sale
http://www.logitech.com/gaming/mice-keyboard-combos/devices/7244
Basically its a wired and wireless mouse, you can plug it in if it runs out of battery, it has a bunch of frills that actually work.

Heres a good place http://www.gamedealsrus.com/detail.asp?id=14040&n=Logitech-Wireless-Gaming-Mouse-G700
Or amazon has it for a little more free shipping.

After finding out that Piotyr has had his for four years and it's still running strong, I decided to go with a G700.

I'm pretty glad I did. It's form-fitting, feels nice to the touch, and has a ton of interesting features. It has 13 buttons, all of which are programmable. This includes four buttons on the left side of the mouse, and seven on top of the mouse (including two buttons to on the middle mouse wheel, one for clicking left and one to the right).

It's wireless, but comes with a charging cable and rechargeable battery. It also has a five foot extension cord for the receiver, which you can also plug the charging cable into, effectively making it a ten foot cord.

I've only got the mouse set on 3000 DPI, but it has a max of 5600. I'm not sure how this compares to other gaming mice, but I'm the kind of FPS player who lives to snipe. And now I can hit people's heads with ease.

I'm very impressed, and highly recommend this mouse to others. Hopefully my experience will be as good as Piotyr's.
