Something occurred to me to try whilst playing Sonic 2 today...we all know that when the music starts, Sonic has 5 seconds of air left before he drowns. But I wanted to count the seconds between when he gets in the water and when the timer starts...it's 15.

So you're telling me that Sonic can only hold his breath for 20 seconds? I can hold mine for more than 60! What the hell, Sonic?!

Theory A: Sonic is just holding back on us. He can hold his breath long enough to survive in space. But the underwater slows him down enough to make him bored enough to want to stuff it.

Theory B: He’s a hedgehog. The fact that he can hold his breath at all is amazing.
