Your favourite 80s movies

Buckaroo Banzai was always a cult hit.  I think John Lithgow was the villain/alien if I remember correctly?  I think there was also a comic book released at the same time.  The only thing I really remember from the film was the car going through a mountain/dimension after accelerating.  Peter Weller made it worth a watch.  Of Unknown Origin is another great Weller movie where he fights a giant rat in his house.  Fun stuff.

Going a little off topic here, since this isn't a movie and will be remembered as more of a '70's show, despite airing halfway through the 80's, here's an almost foretelling clip of The Jeffersons from later 1980:

^best part(almost non-stop hilarity) is from ~1:23-3:33, though you can watch the beginning to get some background on something that comes up during that part.

To be honest  the movie was rediscovered later in Sci-Fi conventions. Sadly, Buckaroo Banzai was a commercial failure when released.

Peter Weller was one of those actors able to turn an average movie into something wortwhile. And he has that amazing 'intense gaze'...

Note: He's also great in Screamers (1996): it's still Sci-Fi but we're not in the 80 anymore...Great movie nonetheless.

The one from last year wasn't half bad, but it was almost scene for scene alongside the original... Plus technically it should have been the "Kung Fu Kid"
