The urge to do the first DB game is too great to pass up, so I figure why not. I would surmise that this text is pretty simple. Surprisingly, there's a quite a bit of text in this one, but the pointers vary by type and location, which makes dumping the script annoying.

As is always the case, my translation may not be 100% accurate. But this wasn't very difficult, and there wasn't anything that confused me, so it should be pretty close:

Just a small correction. 仙人 should be translated as "hermit", as Master Roshi is also commonly known as 亀仙人, the "turtle hermit".

This list is fine except for a few minor things: #3 would sound better as "Yamcha, the Desert Bandit"; Kung Fu Tournament should be either "World Martial Arts Tournament" or "Tenkai Butoden"; #14 should be "Koren Tower" (Koren is that white cat guy who lives at the half way point of Koren Tower and grows Senzu beans, which restores one's health completely and gives a week's worth of food when eating).

However Korin Tower is カリン塔 [Karin Tō].  The tower in this game is コンペイ とう [Konpei Tō], Kompei Tower.

Ah, I see. Though, what is Kompei Tower? Is it a place which only appears in this game, as I don't recall ever hearing of such a place in the series. The only two towers that I know of in Dragon Ball are Korin Tower and Muscle Tower (one of Red Ribbon's strongholds in the northern region of the series).

Also, the tournament is not called "Tenkai Butouden". It's the 天下一武道会, "Tenkaichi Budokai" the "Best in the World Martial Arts Tournament".

Kompei and Korin Tower are one in the same. Being that these games are older than the anime sub/dubs and other games is probably the reason why they are not the same. Just for the record, it'll probably end up being Konpei Tower as that's what it's called in DB2. Also probably going to use Tenkaichi Budokai for screen space reasons.

Your post got me thinking, I wonder if コンペイ とう [Konpei Tō] is a pun on 金米糖 "Konpeitou" [confetti candy] and in that case カリン塔 [Karin Tō] is 花林糖 "Karintou" ["fried dough candy"] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karinto). Kind of like the other puns in Dragon Ball like underwear and refrigeration units, I wonder if there is a candy/snack theme going on here?
