Lot of interesting stuff in there. Some of which I have no clue what to do with. What do you guys personally do with this app. What feature do you like the most or use the most.
That movie editor looks interesting. I'm looking at that "Movie begins from" option. I want to try to edit a movie I have to start about half way through. How would I accomplish this?
I use it for it's primary useage and the reason it's on this site to begin with; savestae viewing and editing as it related to hacking. VSNES gives you an exhaustive amount of easily accessible information regarding the current savestate. I use it to quickly look up VRAM locations for backgrounds, what several PPU registers were set at, etc.. It sure beats the old hex editor and notepad doc telling what offssets these things are at.
Over the past year or so, it's evolved to do much more than that which is good, but I still focus on it's ability to make hacking jobs easier.
Hell, it's even a very good learning tool to some degree about the registers and other hardware features on the SNES. You can break down the picture into sprites, backround layers, etc. and see where all this stuff and it's tilemap/OAM table is stored in VRAM and then check out the PPU registers for them. creaothceann has taken great care to make the utility as accurate as possible in regards to the information and image presented. In a way, VSNES is a mini partial SNES emulator.
So there you have it. Download it and give it a try. It's a unique utility.
