Unfortunately, because of the way the dialogues etc are implemented in the game, it's going to be quite difficult.
I'll mark it down tho, as a possible future feature.

Hello to you, Nyxojaele.  :)
I'm as you, on one project in the same game.
Sorry, I'm french and it may you don't understand all that I say.
I didn't want change the structure of the maps, I did want just translate the game in french. In our country we don't have SOTN in french...
I did want translate the text and the sound, and at the last season I say to me, "Why don't remake the game completely?".
Then I began change the musics, the voices and the texts...
The only problem is, I have not understood how function the structure of the maps. It's for this raison, I have been waiting for your software since long time.
The viewer version work very good, I hope just, the real version will be for very soon.
Congratulation, very good work!  ;)
Just a last thing.
Is it possible to create one map file if we create our own tile file?
I explain, I wish add in the PSX version translated by me in french, the lost levels of the Jap version of Sega Saturn.
I though it's a good idea, there is only four levels, the underground garden regular and the inversed, as well for the cursed prison.
For the moment I don't think put a interactives sprits in those regions cause I don't know yet the function of the game on this way.

I would like SNEER to be able to do exactly that, at some point in the future!
But that will probably be one of the last things I program in, as I don't fully understand how to do it yet >_>;;

For now, the [high level] plan is:

Viewer -> Editor -> Creator

Me too, I don't full understand all. But, it must say, it's enough complicated for a PS1 game...
Otherwise the high level Editor would be great for me for now.
I'm rather specialized in the translation of text and sound. But the mix of both should be good for a new game.  :P
I'm very impatiently to try it.  ;D

Nyxojaele, could you update your first post with a list of things you need help with, or a to-do list, so random people can trawl the internet looking for places where what you need has already been done?

Good idea.
I just edited my first post with some more information (and a download link!)
I put a TODO list up there, but I really don't know how much help that would be for people who want to help me out with the project...

Could you say about, when do you be able to upload the editor version of SNEER?
Thank.

When it's done.
That's honestly the best I can give you.
Just watch as my TODO list dwindles away, and it should give you some idea about how long it may take.

It's sure, the Todo list is fuller and we can talk about a game editor now!
On the beginning I believed it was just an map editor.
I think well this should take very long to do but it depend of your actual stage in the project.
( I must say, I'm happy to learn it will have a text editor. )
Thank for this, and good continuation!

Alright, time for another release!
This is probably going to be my last major release (barring maybe bug fixes etc) for a while-- the next big things on my to-do list involve adding the editing features in, which will take a considerable effort, and right now I'm neck deep in contract work that's keeping my free time to a minimum.

Download it Here.

Thanks for this program, Nyxojaele! I just noticed that the saturn version files are all scattered without proper folder sorting, so i tought that the devs at nagoya probably "unzipped the F_MAP.bin and DRA.bin" as i can't find those.

I also noticed that all the respective files that are related to each character and map are on another format (.map and .prg respectively.)

I'd really like to translate the Saturn version of SOTN, so if we could talk a bit more so that i could undestand how this game works, it's be great =].

Thanks again for your hard work, i'm waiting like crazy for this.

Unfortunately, the Saturn version of the game isn't on my roadmap of things to support.
If the file formats happen to work the same as the PSX version, and we get it for free, then that's great, but if not, I don't suspect SNEER will ever support it, alas.

I'm pretty sure it's the same file type, it's just that it's kinda extracted, you want me to send you some stage files for you to play? =]

They aren't even close a bit and some chunks are also compressed using the Saturn SDK algorithm. But anyway, the Saturn port is so bad I wouldn't bother adding support for it; it's just not worth it at all.

Why would they change the file system? It seems like they re-did (poorly) the engine for the Saturn. Maybe not? Please tell me more Gemini, i'd love getting inside this game. Be it on PSX or Saturn.

The engine stays more or less the same, the formats however were changed quite a bit due to the different hardware (?). Even the way frames are put together for each entity just don't match or how palettes are assigned to the segments. I don't really have an answer to data structure changes, but the graphics follow a different format because they simply couldn't make the Saturn behave in a manner more adapt to the PlayStation VRAM and how it works with pages instead of mapped addresses.
