Translation Patch Status Categories

I'll go through my list and submit some changes/corrections.

I suppose announced could get a lot more entries if a few people decided to add their announced projects to the database.

Hey! I had a page set up for my Final Fantasy IV: Easy Type project (I believe it was one of those dreaded "In Progress" entries), and now it's gone. Did you just delete all of those instead of putting them in the "Announced" category?

Oh, and Romancing Saga should be deleted. It's been dead for like 3 years and will be unless FH suddenly reappears.

Chaos World
What menu errors are in Chaos World and why hasn't Gideon fixed them in nearly 10 years? I suppose if it doesn't crash or make the game unplayable it would qualify to be changed.  Gideon already submitted the change in queue, but I'm interested in the details on this case.

That's entirely up to you (everyone). I've just amended the categories and taken care of the old Dead entries (all moved to Unfinished) and In Progress entries that had patches.  Anything else is standard database maintenance fare. [ EDIT ] links are available everywhere to do as you see fit.

Someone found a Game Genie code to make a debug window appear when you stand still in Chaos World.
It was in English in the Japanese version and cavespeak in the patched version.
I don't know if that's what Gideon fixed, but I reported it on his forum.

As you say, if I recall correctly the issue with Chaos World is some cavespeak in a few of the menus and in the post-combat debrief. I haven't fixed 'em yet because I don't think I have the project folder anymore :/ It's one of those things that I could do so much better on nowadays and want to completely redo at some point, but probably will never get around to.

You know, you can always hack your hack when you don't have adequate source material to work with anymore. I actually did that with some Dual Orb 2 improvements on the 1.5 patch. I couldn't figure out how to rebuild portions of the project anymore. It seems I may have even edited the ROM directly (cardinal sin) a few times and made no notes of it!!  Thankfully, my project organization skills got exponentially better since then!

A 10th anniversary from the original release is a good excuse to dust it back off and hack again!

Chaos World

Most of the combat text is untranslated, stuff like "(name) attacks!" and such. It's playable, but distracting.

No. There are no notifications. I'm not investing any time on it. We have what looks like it will be 8 entries. As I said earlier:

Announced - Announced Projects with no patches. I'd like to remove this entirely, but some people still claim it's useful. It doesn't hurt me sitting there, so I left it. There will be no enhancements such as auto notifications etc. unless it gets a lot more use (11 entries right now). If they're not updated (after 1 year) , they'll get pruned and that's that. If that category ends up empty as I imagine it eventually will. I'll remove it.
