Deep Dungeon IV

Just wanted to check these. Want to see if I'm missing anything, particularly about this secret place. Probably not. I notice the third and fourth floors of Kalim Tower are suspiciously smaller than the first two.

But I refused, and he locked me up here. By the way, I heard there is a hidden passage in this tower.

There is a guy named Erik on the 3rd Floor.

"But when I refused, he locked me up in here. By the way, there's supposed to be a secret passage somewhere in this tower..."

"I overheard some people saying that there is a monk named Erick on the east bridge on the 3rd floor."

That's the idea I thought to, although there doesn't seem to be a bridge on the third floor.
What happens on the third floor is there is this tile with "paralysis gas" that paralyzes the second party member and behind it is a locked door (which can be opened with a key found after defeating the boss), and behind that is another room with Erick. Unless the player is supposed to use their imagination and ignore the lack of a tileset change.

Which brings me to another question.
[STRING2]は　めをさました
though typically translated as "[STRING2] awoke." I'm wondering if I should change it to "[STRING2] opened their eyes." This seems to be the string used when both Sleep and Paralysis are cured.
(paralysis in this game seems to work like petrification in other RPGs, essentially death but without reaching zero HP.)

I'm still quite a ways off, but might as well post the ending text from the ROM.

That's the idea I thought to, although there doesn't seem to be a bridge on the third floor.

Then it's probably 東の端にいる, meaning "he's at the eastern end".

目を覚ます can also mean "to come to one's senses".

"With the Dark Lord Cymer defeated, you have finally lived up to your father's name (*not entirely sure what うつこ means, so this part after the comma is a guess).
Even though the journey itself was harsh, now that you know it's over, it feels somewhat nostalgic.

And you remembered all of the people that you've met on the way."

Are you sure it isn't ちちおやのかたきをうつことができた ("you were able to avenge your father")? That would at least make sense.

Okay... I think I've figured out the solution in game.
I need to hire one/some person/people. Not sure if it is one or multiple. And then I probably have to bring it/them to free the dragon's neck.

I heard everything from the village chief. Our men are ready.

Now the problem is that the man/men become an NPC. Listed as むらびと, I am limited to 5 DTE bytes and a total of 8 characters. I had "Villager" but now I'm not sure.
What happens with NPCs is while they are given stats and placed in slot 4 of the party, they have little gameplay purpose (except maybe providing a temporary inventory space increase ). In battle, the main party is shifted into slots 2-4 and slot 1 is reserved for summoned monsters. Of which AFAIK there's only two: イフリート (from what I understand Efreet or Ifrit are both acceptable. I know the former was used by Lufia and I think Arcana, and I suppose many of us are aware the later is used by Final Fantasy) and Hiryuu.

I think it's more like "Only merchants are allowed beyond this point. Sorry, but we'll have to ask you to leave."?

I think this is "I want to trade with the eastern country, but it is dangerous."

"The people of the western City of Kadaath will surely help us. I know it's a bother, but could you please bring them to the dragon?"

"I heard the story from the Horoth chief. Everyone is gathered here."

(I'd say "Villagers" for 村人（むらびと）)

"Only authorized people may pass through here. My apologies, but please come back the way you came."

"I am on the way to trade with the eastern country. However, the route is dangerous."
