Dank-Trans

15 April 2006 5:45PM EST - Update by Neil

Translations News

Danke of Dank-Trans wrote in to tell us about his new page opening up with information on his current projects. He’s currently concentrating heavily on four games, Akira (NES), 3×3 Eyes: Sanjiya Henjyou (PC-98), Madou Monogatari 1-2-3 (PC-98), and Tabaluga (GBC). Of those, Tabaluga is the farthest along, with a completely translated script.

More screenshots are available on the Dank-Trans page.

Zero Mission Level Header Editor

15 April 2006 3:52PM EST - Update by Neil

Utilities News

interdpth over on the acmlm boards has created a tool to edit the level headers in Metroid: Zero Mission for the Gameboy Advance. This allows you to choose different music, set new offsets for maps, change the speed at which the background moves for water, change enemy sprite sheets and more. It is a teaser of sorts, as he does have a full fledged level editor in the works.

There doesn’t seem to be a web page for this project at the moment, but feel free to let him know how cool this little utility is by leaving him a comment in the thread linked below.

Other News

Vag from GreekRoms.net, a popular Greek ROMHacking site writes:

Hello. I am Vag from GreekRoms (www.greekroms.net). I am organizing a rom hacking seminar in Athens in May 14. Hopefully, all the greek rom hackers will be there (4 from GreekRoms and 2-3 others). We would like any greek that wants to learn about rom hacking to come, so could you please write that in your news page?

Thank you, Vag

Sounds like a great idea! We at ROMHacking.net would like to encourage any greek speaking European in the area to attend and lend a hand/learn. Be sure to let us know how it goes!

Document and Utility Public Submission News and More!

13 April 2006 11:20AM EST - Update by Nightcrawler

Site News

The most active ROM hacking resource and news site on the net has been working hard to continue to meet it’s goal of putting the power in YOUR hands. It is with great pleasure that we announce the ability for public Documents and Utilities submissions!

Just like our Hacks section has already, you can now add entries directly into our database (subject to staff screening) for your favorite documents and utilities. This is YOUR database. If something isn’t there that you think should be, you can now add it yourself! We are continuing our mission to remove the staff bottleneck (visitors having to rely on staff to do everything). Ultimately, the staff’s purpose on this site is for maintenance, and screening. It’s up to YOU to add the content you think belongs here. It’s up to YOU to turn YOUR archive into the biggest and best it can be.

Add your Documents, Utilities, and Hacks here on the Submit Files Page.

Other New Additions to the Site:

  • A ROMhacking.net Dictionary of ROMhacking Terms was added! Please submit any corrections or additions you’d like to see on the Forum.
  • New Integrated Site Theme - A new theme entitled Metroid (made by p4ch3c0) was added.
  • New Integrated Site Theme - A new theme entitled Transcorp (made by Nightcrawler) was added.
  • Translation Scene History was added here on the site due to the deletion of the wiki page on Wikipedia. The history lives on at ROMhacking.net!
  • Collapsable Sticky Posts - By popular demand, stickies are now collapsable! Go ahead and try it with this one! :P

River City Ransom Zero updated

10 April 2006 9:19AM EST - Update by Kitsune Sniper

Translations News

I live. Sorta. I guess I’ll just quote myself.

First off, updated River City Ransom Zero patch. It only fixes the title screen. The hacking was made by a mysterious fellow by the name of z80 Gaiden, so give him props and stuff. You can get that here:

River City Ransom Zero on ROMhacking.net

Secondly, the same guy helped me with Nettou The King of Fighters ‘96, and provided me with the means to change the title screen, so there may be some hope to that project getting completed! (Screenie is here.)

Thirdly… uh, I ain’t dead yet.

PCSX2 0.9 released

06 April 2006 7:07PM EST - Update by FloBo

Other News

PCSX2 is the first PS2 emulator with a debugger!

A Quote excerpt from the PCSX2 site:

Yes folks PCSX2 0.9 is here, by no means gracefully, but it is here!

You can now enjoy PCSX2 0.9 a faster and more compatible PS2 emulator, it’s been a year since 0.8.1 was released so you will see many dramatic changes!

Many games are now going ingame, and some are even playable (check out games like Disgaea, or Silent Hill 4!)

What does that mean to those of us here at ROMhacking.net? It means it just may be more possible than ever to start hacking or translating PS2 games!
