ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page
This hack was originally called Shards of Might, but it was in beta form and couldn’t be played normally. But ROM hackers have come together and debugged this hack.
Omega and Seph (authors of Shards of Might) did most of the work with this hack. Francais from France has remodeled it and I, PuzzleDude, have finished and debugged it (some aesthetic bugs that I couldn’t fix remain). I’ve added new gameplay and extended two dungeons. The overworld and all dungeons were remodeled.
In comparison to Zelda 3: A Link to the Past, this is a completely new hack. The overworld and all dungeons are new.
Enjoy this debugged hack.

This is an exciting day for ROMhacking.net! Today we officially announce the merger between ROMhacking.net and the Data Crystal Wiki (datacrystal.org). Two of the largest ROM Hacking resources around have come together in a big step forward toward centralization of the community and providing the largest ROM hacking resource on the planet! Both sites shared many of the same goals and it made sense to combine our resources and link together. AnyoneEB will remain webmaster of Data Crystal and it has been great working with him so far.
There are many new possibilities that have opened up with integrating RHDN and Data Crystal content. We’ve already implemented several new features you can read about below. We plan to continue the integration process as time goes on. We’d love to hear from you on what you might like to see in the future.
Here are some new features that have come from the merger:
- ROMhacking.net Accounts Merged with Data Crystal
You may use your existing RHDN account to log into Data Crystal for editing. If you don’t have an account, creating a new account from RHDN will work on both sites.
- RHDN Game Pages Enhanced with links to Data Crystal
Every RHDN game page now links to associated Data Crystal ROM Maps, RAM Maps, Table Files, Hacking Notes, and Tutorials! In the event no page exists on Data Crystal, you can create the appropriate page on the spot!
See the examples below for Super Mario Brothers and Earthbound that show the full effects of the new possibilities!
- Fan Translation Community History Page
The Fan Translation Community History page is back in wiki form! This was a page lost when Wikipedia deleted it. It’s back now and ready to be edited and enhanced by all of you!

- Translation Request List:
The Translation Request List from the forum has moved to the wiki. Users can add their requested games themselves. The list can be maintained by anyone, and the ability to further enhance it with additional information is made possible by the wiki format.

Enjoy a little Grand Master this labor day. It’s a cool little NES action RPG that deserves your attention. In other news, not to boast but this is my second major patch within a months time. Incredible, isn’t it? Also I am looking for a website designer and welcome a nicely designed website that isn’t incredibly simplistic/obscure/hard to read at times.

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page
After around six years in development this complete hack of Super Metroid is finally done. It’s been a bumpy road with more times then I can count where I have lost confidence in my ability to finish this solo project.
But now, behold, it is done!
You can read more about the hack itself once you make the jump to the the page for it. You can also check out the topic in RD.net’s forum by clicking here.

So here’s one there hasn’t been any news on in a while! Recently, I did some tinkering with Super Nazo Puyu Tsuu (or, as it will probably be called it, “Super Puzzle Puyo, Too!”) The full main dialog script has been inserted, whereas before only about two thirds of it had found its way into the game. The project has been brought up to date with current tools (instead of tools from, say, 2003 or earlier) and roughly half of the script has been edited. No work on the menu systems yet, though they shouldn’t pose too much of a problem. I’ve also added 23 new screenshots to the game’s project page, a link to which you can find at the top of this post. As usual I can’t say when it’ll be done, other than “soon, I hope.”

Utilities News - RHDN Project Page
Hi guys, this is Phoenix from SadNES cITy.
I wrote this piece of news to present my new xdelta front end, named Delta Patcher. My teammates and I were not fully satisfied by the the previous xdelta front ends, because they all lack patch customizations provided by the original command-line program. They only allowed the user to create or apply a patch, ignoring all of the other useful options.
While Delta Patcher doesn’t deal with all the options available, it has some very nice features that might be interesting for game hackers:
- You can choose among all the compression levels supported by the original xdelta.
- The program automatically deletes the unpatched file and renames the patched file after the original (this way it will act like PPF-O-MATIC or LunarIPS).
- If the user wants to keep a backup of the original file, it is absolutely possible to do so by simply checking the “Keep original file” box.
- It can ignore checksum during patch making and applying. This is particularly useful for PSX/PS2 games, since ISO images are very susceptible to minimal, albeit insignificant, changes to their file size.
- It is a stand-alone program. You won’t need additional DLLs or the .NET Framework in order to make it work. Yuppie!
- It’s easily translatable to other languages: just make your own “.po” file and put it in the resource folder (the tool comes with two language files: English and Italian).
- It’s possible to associate the “.xdelta” extension to Delta Patcher. A very comfortable feature!
- Fully compatible with Linux!
Inside the package you will find two versions of Delta Patcher: the normal one and “Delta Patcher Lite”. The lite version allows patching operations only. It is meant to accompany patch releases, so that the users won’t mistakenly use the “patch making” option. The full version is addressed to game hackers who know what they are doing. ;)
If you are interested in the sources, you can download them here. Just install wxWidgets and compile it.
Thanks for your time, and enjoy Delta Patcher!

ROM Hacks News
After having restored the sound of Final Fantasy V Advance, now a similar hack comes out with Final Fantasy VI. This hack completely restore the music’s quality from the SNES version. The restoration is even better to what have been done with Final Fantasy V advance, as all songs were re-sequenced.
I should also mention that streamed pieces of opera are played instead of low-quality synthetic opera.
