ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page
There are lots and lots of Final Fantasy IV hacks on the site already, so you must be thinking, “Spooniest, you debonaire swashbuckling hex hero, what makes this one different?”
…Ok, maybe you’re not thinking exactly that, but what makes this one different is that it cleans up the text from Joel Smith’s “FF4 - Cosmetic Changes.” A handful of typos remained from J2e’s hack, and some punctuation and tone issues were present. The full change list is in the readme.
Maybe it’s pointless to try to get anyone to play Final Fantasy IV again, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to sit by while the only versions of the original SNES game available are riddled with typos.
SIDE NOTE: vivify93 requested that I change the ellipses in the game to the “single character” version that is found in the code, which I may still do, if I’m feeling saucy sometime.
Enjoy!

For those of you who just couldn’t stand playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance because of the questionable Law system, you’re in luck! FFTA: Anarchy is a small mod that I made a few months back with the help of Darthatron that removes Laws, allowing you to play the game without worrying about dumb laws such as Dmg2Animal or ColorMagic.
So what’re you waiting for! Download FFTA: Anarchy and cause some chaos!

Kitsune Sniper retires from romhacking today (or so he claims, but we all know how that goes) and in so doing, releases patches for two games that he’s been working on for quite some time.
The first of these is the NES Samurai Pizza Cats game. It should be noted that this was produced in isolation from the other Samurai Pizza Cats translation, and includes a lower case font, text compression for an expanded script, and two distinct patches - one with a more literal translation, and one with a more true-to-the-spirit-of-the-TV-show localization. He’s been working on this for many years, and it deserves a look!
The second of these is for a beatemup called Sengoku, which Kitsune freely admits is terrible. But to each his own!

Today we’re making an announcement about a new Credit List feature we deployed recently on the site. It has been several years in the making. It was originally an idea from Satsu on how to better facilitate proper crediting of people in our database. There were many technical hurdles to overcome at the time. Allowing multiple author selection was a good stop-gap solution over nothing, but it still fell very short.
Let’s say Aeon Genesis just released a new translation. That’s great, but just who was under that umbrella for this release? Who did the stellar job translating that script? Who did the programming? What about that guy who made that custom decompressor utility? There are many important people involved in our hacking projects that deserve formal community recognition. Simply cramming all those names in the author list is not an elegant solution at all.
A credit list is not a difficult concept, but it can be very difficult to try to shoehorn into a database with roots dating back many years, containing a haphazard mix of people and groups, and entries assigned in various different ways. How do you do this without having to reset all entries, or lose all of our existing valuable associations? It was not an easy question and it took a long time to implement a viable solution.
We finally came up with something that works after some additional input from Spinner 8. All existing data and associations are preserved, and we have added the ability to properly fix and credit any entries going forward. Both old and corrected entries will operate. It is unlikely that all old entries will ever be corrected, so it is imperative that both old and new work.
The current ‘Author’ field for hacks and translations will be used as the ‘Released By’ field in all entry and search pages. In the case of a group project, only the group name should go here. All people belonging to a group for that project shall go to the Credit List. In the case of an individual project, only the primary individual/s to be credited for the release belong. All others involved should be added to the new Credit List attached to the entry. Additional information can be found on the Credit List submission page, and you may see the following examples for reference:

After many years of leaving the Castlevania: Rondo of Blood English Translation Patch abandoned I can happily say that this patch has reached it’s much needed v1.0 status! However the credits have not made it into this release of the patch (if ever) so in order to compensate for this inconvenience we have included the translation for the credits in the readme.
To make clear, this patch will translate the TurboGrafx-CD version of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood into English. Everything will be translated; even the voiced dialogue will be replaced with the official Konami English dub from Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles (PSP). However miscellaneous grunts will retain their original Japanese.
But enough talk! Download the patch and see for your self!

After quite a few people have tried and stopped mid-way, the sequel to the Pokemon Trading Card Game for Game Boy Color is finally completely translated! Following the events of the last game, you’ll find new adversaries, new cards, and many more strategies to play with while duelling others in the famous Pokemon collectable card game. (And the best part is, you don’t need to pay for the cards!)
A big shoutout goes to Jazz, who provided a basis to insert English lettering in small enough tiles to fit the text in nicely, as the last game did.
Though there are many other patches floating around with partial translations, this one will require a clean Japanese ROM. I hope you all enjoy it!
