Be careful what you wish for…
Shortly after the release of Stardom Warriors, Polinym’s localization of LaSalle Ishii’s Childs Quest (also known as ChaiKue), Polinym began work on a delocalization version simply “because he could”. However, he quickly realized that such an obscure, ugly, and slightly pervy game was unfit for mere mortal English speakers. So, he channeled all the dark energy of “free time” to create a more menacing, enraging experience. He worked on his Kaizo Quest project among various other projects.
LaSalle Ishii’s KAIZO Quest is the embodiment of Polinym’s dual-faced nature towards a non-localized version of ChaiKue. Nearly all of the copyrighted content, such as LaSalle Ishii, Matsuo Ishii, and the Childs, has been restored. The game’s text has been rewritten to be significantly more accurate to the original. Much of the censorship has been removed, although Polinym still has his limits…
At the same time, the cost of such a project is an increased difficulty. The game now takes more grinding to complete. Shop items are now drastically more expensive. Lies and tricks have been scattered among the helpful hints. All of the water in-game has been replaced by bloo, um, er, “Mementos Juice”. Many helpful hints have flat-out been removed. The final boss’s true form has been restored…
Polinym does not approve of this game. He suggests that only experienced ChaiKue players even consider attempting this. A quality, family-friendly way to play the game in English already exists in the form of Stardom Warriors ( http://www.romhacking.net/translations/5321/ )
This hack was designed to be hated. Polinym shall not be responsible for controllers thrown into TV/PC screens or discomfort caused by the game’s dialogue.

An English translation for Sega’s 1991 Mega Drive/Genesis strategy game Bahamut Senki – and its accompanying 112-page instruction manuals – has been released!
For 2,000 years did the peace brought to Bahamut by the royal line of Pholia last; but no more. The skies darken, the evil powers once banished return, calamities tear the land itself asunder – and the “Age of Darkness” is at hand. As the world crumbles, eight rulers raise armies and war amongst themselves to decide the fate of the continent. None can say when or how the Age of Darkness will end, but amidst the chaos, there is one certainty: that the conflict can be done only when one Master stands alone above them all…
Bahamut Senki (Record of the Bahamut War) is a 1991 turn-based strategy game by Sega for the Mega Drive. In it, up to four players take control of one of eight rulers in the fantasy realm of Bahamut, raise armies, and battle AI opponents and each other until one faction emerges victorious. It’s a very complex and advanced game for its time, featuring three rulesets of varying depth, adjustable difficulty, and three different levels of simulation: high-level political management, tactical battles (in both hex-based and simplified variants), and real-time action-based combat between individual units.
While the game itself contains only a moderate amount of text, it’s a complex simulation game from an era where in-game help and tutorials were rare. Instead, most information on how the game actually works is found only in its 64-page instruction manual and accompanying 48-page supplement. Since the game is nearly impossible to understand without them, the translation team has additionally translated both manuals and formatted them as web pages, including translated reproductions of all charts and graphs, for convenience. They are included in the patch download, and can also be read online on the patch’s support site: http://stargood.org/trans/bahamut.php
The game also has a few unusual secrets for a strategy game of this type. Since some of them are extremely well hidden, and in some cases had never been documented in English, the patch download also includes instructions on how to find them.
This release was the work of TheMajinZenki (translation), Supper (hacking and manual digitization), cccmar (editing and testing), Xanathis (testing), and Oddoai-sama (testing). Special thanks to filler, who initially worked on the translation, and to Sega wiki Sega Retro for providing the user manual scans.

Phantasy Star Generation 4 is a relocalization (and for most of the story script, a retranslation) of the classic SEGA JRPG Phantasy Star IV.
Integrating fan feedback with dozens of hours of editing, the author has release a final(ish) version of the patch catering to as many player preferences as possible – along with substantial story script improvements.
1. Script versions: Choose between Recommended or “No Joke” (removes added NPC lines, some character interaction while retaining revised script).
2. Names/Items/Spells matching either the Master System original, the Playstation 2 remakes, or a hybrid of both (recommended).
Also, further PS fan resources and a new podcast series with interviews of PS fan translators are located at the project website.
Coinciding with SEGA’s 60th anniversary, 2020 has seen the release of major retranslations/QOL improvements to PS1, PS3, and PS4 already. Revised editions of the Playstation 2 “Generations” remakes are in production, as well.

It was teased in Crash ‘n’ the Boys: Street Challenge back in 1992. The game decades in the making arrives on the NES with Crash ‘n’ the Boys: Ice Challenge.
The long awaited sequel arrives. Take to the ice and destroy your opponents, however you see fit.
This is a localization of the title screen for Ike Ike! Nekketsu Hockey-bu. While the game has been translated previously, and even now officially released, the title is excruciating. The point of this translation is to make a title screen for the game that would have come out back in 1993 if Street Challenge had a warm reception.
Enjoy!

eskayelle’s ultimate vision comes to fruition with this final set of mods in the TMNT of Rage series.
On an alternate timeline in an alternate universe, Mr. X and the Syndicate have fallen at the hands of those radical reptiles, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Furious with his latest failure to control the city, X enlists one Oroku Saki to capture the fearsome foursome’s greatest ally, April O’Neil.
Rage in their hearts and pizza in their bellies, the turtles jump into action, dead set on putting an end to Mr. X’s tyranny once and for all… and punish the Shredder for being complicit in the Syndicate’s nefarious misdeeds as well.
A direct descendant of eskayelle’s TMNT of Rage hack and its TMNT Remix successor, this mod adds the following to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles of Rage experience:
- A throwback to the old 90’s arcade splash screens starts off your gaming experience.
- A six sequence ending specific to this game, the first for any SoR2 hack out there, incorporates redesigned images from the classic TMNT II and III NES games. These images also put some artistic spins on the palettes / color schemes for a bit of extra fun.
- Those bumbling buffoons, those moronic mutants, Rocksteady and Bebop, have now joined the Syndicate! Dumber than advertised, but stronger than ever, get ready to go toe to toe with them, Bebop making his first appearance in a Genesis / Mega Drive game.
- An updated story in attract mode complements the new ending sequence.
- A new title screen takes greater advantage of the Genesis / Mega Drive’s palette options.
- Thanks to Yoni, gone are road apples in favor of a nice slice! Try not to smile the first time you hear Mikey calling out “Pizza Time!” as he grabs some grub.
- With the additional Re-Shelled patch, play the game on a Terraonion MegaSD (or with any emulator that supports MD+ functionality) to enjoy that sweet soundtrack from eskayelle’s TMNT MD+ Remix. Grab that soundtrack here!
And… those fantastic features from the previous mods in the series continue to kick shell!
Grab a copy of the patch today! And… check out the hacking blog here!

A sound soul dwells within a sound mind and a sound body.
A full English translation of the 2008 NDS game Soul Eater: Medusa’s Plot (based on the hit anime of the same name) has been released!
The root of all evil is madness, but madness exists in everything. In order to control this paradox, Lord Death-the shepherd of souls, serves as guardian to mankind… Set at Death Weapon Meister Academy, a school founded by Lord Death, the story follows the adventures of Maka Albarn and her giant scythe weapon, the titular Soul Eater, whose ultimate goal is to make Soul into a Death Scythe. However, they are struggling to find and claim the witch’s soul they need to achieve it.
While on assignment in Italy, the pair become entangled in the intricate plots of the fearsome witch Medusa, whose goal is to revive the Kishin, a being that turned mad and became a demon after consuming the souls of innocent humans. After an intense battle with Medusa’s child, Crona, Maka and Soul return to Death City and find themselves being teamed up with rival meisters Black Star and Death the Kid, along with their weapons (Tsubaki, who can transform into a variety of ninja weapons and Liz and Patty, twin sisters who transform into a pair of pistols) in order to fight against Medusa and stop her from unleashing the madness of the Kishin upon the world.
A retelling of the first half of the anime’s storyline, players can step foot into the shoes of Maka, Black☆Star and Kid, to train and take on missions that will test their metal, fighting against some of the legendary villains from the series. Picking up the from the fast-paced, action-packed drama of the series, the game offers a unique chance to explore the world of Soul Eater as it’s never been seen before.
