Star Cruiser for X68000 takes off!

20 May 2019 9:47AM EST - Update by celcion

Translations News - RHDN Project Page

Star Cruiser is a space shooter/adventure game with many distinct elements from a number of different genres. It focuses on exploration and is very story-driven. This version of the game is quite different from the Mega Drive port that is already available in English, but it’s similar to the original PC-88 release as far the mechanics are concerned (except for the character portraits and some other minor details). Also, the main story beats are the same, but there are many differences as far as the characters and events go, which gives this version its own identity. In fact, this is what makes the game quite different from the MD port in particular. All in all, it’s an important part of the Star Cruiser legacy and it is only proper that it should be available in English. So, hopefully you enjoy the fruits of the team’s labor.

Poppin' puzzle fun! "Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary" English Translation Now Available

12 May 2019 10:13AM EST - Update by precisemuseum

Translations News - RHDN Project Page

An iconic entry of the beloved Puyo Puyo series has been fully translated into English!

Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary takes place after Puyo Puyo 7. This time, our Puyo 7 protagonist Ringo Ando suddenly finds herself teleported to another dimension! Luckily, it’s the dimension of her world-crossing friends who can help her find her way back home. Featuring 24 individual routes, Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary celebrates the shenanigans of its diverse cast as they Puyo pop their way through each and every challenge!

Puyo Puyo originated as a spinoff of the classic and dramatic dungeon crawler Madou Monogatari, its unique action-puzzle gameplay has both attracted a committed fanbase in Japan and vaulted it into the world of esports. With its recent resurgence in English-speaking territories, now’s the perfect time to pick up Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary and meet its cast!

This patch is for the Nintendo DS version, made possible by the team at Precise Museum along with some additional help from Puyo Nexus.

But where's the Puyo!? Madou Monogatari II translation released

09 May 2019 6:08PM EST - Update by Supper

Translations News - RHDN Project Page

A long-overdue English translation for the second game in the Madou Monogatari (Sorcery Saga) series has been released!

Arle Nadja, last seen trying to graduate from kindergarten in the first Madou Monogatari, is now sixteen years old. As she journeys to the distant Ancient Magic School to study, a mysterious man with a remarkable proclivity for unintentional innuendo knocks her out and throws her in a dungeon! Arle must now use all her magic skills to escape and continue her quest to become the most powerful magician in the world.

The Madou Monogatari games are a series of dungeon crawlers by Compile, originally released for Japanese computers and later ported to many other platforms. They’re known for their distinct style of magic-oriented combat, with no HP or MP meters, individually-crafted attacks for every enemy, and prolific use of voice samples. They should also look very familiar to Puyo Puyo players – Puyo Puyo began as a spinoff of Madou Monogatari and imported most of its original cast from the series.

This patch is for the Sega Game Gear port of the game, which features somewhat different gameplay and dungeons from the original computer versions. Despite the Puyo Puyo connection and a solid reputation as a fun title, this marks the first English translation of the game, almost exactly 25 years after this version’s original release.

This patch was the work of TheMajinZenki (translation), Supper (hacking), cccmar (editing and testing), filler (original script dump), and Xanathis (testing). Special thanks goes to filler and Kingofcrusher for their translation patch for the first Madou Monogatari, whose font was reused for this patch.

Donkey Kong '94 (GB) Gets Its First Level Hack

08 May 2019 9:20AM EST - Update by Imaynotbehere4long

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

The Game Boy version of Donkey Kong, also known as Donkey Kong ‘94, was a huge expansion to the original arcade game, featuring many new levels, enemies, and mechanics. It even got a spiritual successor in the form of the first Mario vs. Donkey Kong game. Although these games have their fans, neither title has received a level hack until now. This is a simple hack, featuring only four levels with little else changed, but it should be enough to give those who’ve beaten the game an extra challenge (and perhaps give level designers encouragement to make their own level hacks of this game).

05 May 2019 9:09AM EST - Update by JX91

Translations News - RHDN Project Page

This is the first release of the Spanish translation for Famicom Tantei Club Part II.

Famicom Tantei Club Part 2 is a prequel of the original Famicom Tantei Club, and the Super Famicom version is a remake. It’s an Adventure Game with a great detective story. A young boy, the protagonist, who meets a Private Detective when he was running from the police. After some talk, he decides to live with this renowned detective and develope his detective skills, but years later, a particular murder is hiding a lot of secrets…

This release is based on the English translation from Demiforce+Tomato and actually is 50% translated, the story is the equivalent to “Part A” from the original game, but it won’t be long until the complete script is translated (but compressed graphics are another story…).

What’s missing:

  • Translate the script from “Part B” of the story.
  • Translate debug mode.
  • Translate some unused script and graphics.
  • Edit “compressed graphics”
