BS Zelda no Densetsu English Dub

14 July 2016 5:17PM EST - Update by FCandChill

Other News

BS Zelda no Densetsu is an interesting curiosity from Nintendo’s Japan-only add-on for the Satellaview. The ability to download games from a satelite was mind blowing for it’s time. While playing the downloaded game, BS Zelda no Densetsu, Japanese gamers experienced broadcasted Japanese commentary from voice actors in real time. This experience was only temporary and only available to Japanese speakers … until now!

Some very dedicated fans managed to fully dub their already existing restoration project of the game (that’s hosted on this site). Now players can get the full experience of being a Japanese gamer back in the 90s! All the files needed to play the game are available on the developers’ website.

Monster Tactics

02 July 2016 10:24AM EST - Update by Emmy

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

Monster Tactics is here! It is a complete overhaul of Final Fantasy Tactics for PSX, with expanded content and increased difficulty. Monsters have taken over the world, and are now actually dangerous. Only 2 permanent playable humans are available (Ramza and Agrias), the rest of the characters have been replaced by monsters.

Plot changes are mostly humorous/parody of vanilla FFT. A lot of these poke fun at the terrible translations in the game, and recurring lines that existed like “She’s human, just like me!”

Dynamic Designs has released Hyper Iria!

14 June 2016 10:16AM EST - Update by taskforce

Translations News - RHDN Project Page

We at Dynamic-Designs and Matt’s Messy Room have picked up Hyper Iria for translation. And better yet, we’ve already released Hyper Iria for you to play.

The game itself is a fun little platformer similar to the Zenki title we released a little while back. You take the role of Iria, a hardened scifi investigator looking into the dealings of a shady company trying to create super weapons. As you investigate various missions you will earn money and have the chance to upgrade your weapons and buy things such as grenades and useful items to help you on your missions.

The game also has a side scrolling component that can trigger at the beginning of missions for a change of pace. These sections are short and play similar to most side scrollers. You are able to move around the screen and shoot various things coming at you.

We at Dynamic-Designs and Matt’s Messy Room had fun translating this one and we hope you enjoy it just as much!

"Hero Mode" for Zelda: Link's Awakening DX

11 June 2016 1:49PM EST - Update by the_icepenguin

ROM Hacks News - RHDN Project Page

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX was released for Gameboy Color in 1998. It is an enhanced version of the original Link’s Awakening released for Gameboy in 1993. During this generation, the “Hero Mode” feature was not yet officially created by Nintendo.

Hero Mode in the Zelda series usually means increased difficulty. For example, recovery hearts will not drop from enemies after killing them, nor by cutting all that lush green grass. Fairies that normally restore a large portion of the player’s health no longer appear, as well. With increased damage (up to x4) from enemies, this leaves the player with great challenges if they want to beat the game without dying.

This hack was going to be released alongside IcePenguin’s upcoming “Nightmares of Koholint Island” hack, but the decision was made to release it separately since the changes are plentiful, and it definitely offers enough to make the experience new and different. In addition to having an increased difficulty, some new content has been added. There are many new secret treasures to find, new bonus areas to explore, and even a powerful new sword!
