Mouse support and PlayStation content for Clock Tower (SNES)
15 September 2020 4:55PM EST - Update by BobSchneeder45
Clock Tower is a Point ’n Click Horror game for the Super Famicom. Being developed by a very small team, it has a great deal of cut content and unimplemented features, along with various details in need of polish.
A port was released for the Sony PlayStation, that added mouse support and some new content such as a new bedroom and two enemies. This patch will add that to the original Super Famicom version.
There are also various bugfixes and some quality of life improvements, such as letting you run through stairs and speed up the credits.
Patches exist for the Japanese original, as well as the fan translations that are currently available.

Just Like the ‘70s, the Pong Clones are Invading Again!
07 September 2020 10:19AM EST - Update by eskayelle
In an effort to learn a bit more assembly and enhance his romhacking toolkit, eskayelle / Double Z has released a trilogy of Pong variations, each based upon the clones from the 1970s that utilized the AY-3-8500 chip (e.g., Magnavox Odyssey, Wonder Wizard, Gulliver Triple Challenge…).
As an added spin on the classic property, the games place the player in the universe of a certain team of radical reptiles. Easy to understand in any language, these games are fun for the whole family!

EigthBound CuLex is Real Update
04 September 2020 12:45PM EST - Update by Polinym
EightBound has received a significant update!
For one, a bug was discovered that prevented a certain statue from spawning when it needed to. This embarrassingly resulted in a certain end-game boss making mid-game players pay for their insolence far earlier than intended. Also, this prevented the game from being beatable. Fortunately, this update should fix that problem. The game should now be 100% completeable. Players can now see all the wonderful gems that lie near the end of the game. Unfortunately, transferring save data may not allow the statue to spawn, so players may have to start from scratch.
Also, “ya boi Culex” was originally intended to make an appearance in EightBound, but for whatever reason, that didn’t happen. Now, Culex finally made it into EightBound. Players can challenge him in his secret hideout and claim the mystical Quartz Charm as a reward if they beat him.
Also, the creator Polinym would like to mention that the uploading of playthrough videos with commentary is highly encouraged. Polinym would like to see live reactions, which will also help with improving the game.
An Important Update and Discovery for God Slayer, the Japanese Version of Crystalis
03 September 2020 11:11AM EST - Update by Pennywise
A few years after its initial release, the retranslation of the Japanese version of Crystalis, God Slayer, sees an important update to fix some secret text in the game where the developers congratulate you on beating the game.
The presence of this text had been known to Pennywise, but he wasn’t sure if it could actually be accessed. It wasn’t until CaH4e3 did an investigation of the Japanese ROM that he found out exactly how to trigger this text. Thus bringing to light a long lost secret from the Japanese gaming scene of yore. It’s not quite on the epicness level of Erika and Satoru’s Dream Adventure (another upcoming translation by yours truly), but it’s still really cool to discover stuff like this.
To access the hidden text, one must enable the cheat mode, beat the game, reset the game and then restart the game. Before you talk to a NPC, hold A and the secret text will be displayed instead.
This text is only present in the Japanese ROM and the translation brings to life the words of the developers for English audiences. If anyone has yet to play the new translation of the game, this is yet another reason to the play what the authors consider to be the definitive English version of the game.
Go for it, Goemon! Depose the Odd Shōgun McGuinness! (Beta version) Released!
02 September 2020 6:37AM EST - Update by Avster
After decades of work, the original Goemon 2 SNES translation project is finally complete!
- All text, signage, and HUD elements localized from Japanese to English.
- Expanded speech bubbles, menu windows, and cutscene text display areas.
- Greater variation of typefaces.
- Legacy bug fixes.
- Completion of post-clear dialogue.
This release aims to faithfully localize the original experience from Japanese to English through preservation of the dialogue’s goofy humor, and implementation of original artwork that retains the appearance and style of the hand-drawn aesthetic exhibited by the game’s many visuals. A single romhacker invested thousands of hours over the course of many years in order to make this translation a reality.
Bonus content includes legacy bug fixes as well as the completion of post-clear material that the original designers could not fully realize due to either time restraints or space limitations. Please see the “relevant link” or readme file for details.
The game itself is easily one of best Super Nintendo releases. The graphics are gorgeous, the scenery and content extremely varied, and the amazing soundtrack features splendorous, traditional melodies played on the koto, and catchy Japanese Doo-wop belted out by a saxophone!
Like so many of Konami’s platformers, it’s no cake walk! But only you can defend Japan’s culture from relentless Westernization!
Take the stage and “Go for it”!
Finally Some Clarity! - Super Mario Bros. Two Player Hack Editing
31 August 2020 8:02AM EST - Update by Supergamerguy
After several weeks of painstaking trips wading through lines of code and forum posts trying to figure out how to edit the refactored code of the SMB1 Co-Op hack, Supergamerguy finally pieced together a general idea of how to make some changes to its code. He was able to figure a few things about palettes and how they relate to characters and enemies and particular, but the majority of his findings pertain to the Title Screen. Sadly, he was not able to get info on the top-right hand portion of the “Title Box”, but he was able to map out the locations of everything else. Supergamerguy hopes this benefits any hackers wishing to make their own changes to the game and eases the stress of everything else!
